Carlos: Rossi could go next term
Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz reckons Giuseppe Rossi could be farmed out on loan next season.
The revelation is something of a surprise as many people within Old Trafford expect the reserve team hot-shot to be pushing for a first team spot at Old Trafford.
Sir Alex Ferguson has promised he will hand the former Parma youngster a chance before the season is out as he has not enjoyed any Premiership action since his last first team start - a man of the match display against Burton Albion in the FA Cup.
Rossi has been on the bench for the last two Premiership outings but faces a major fight for a place with Wayne Rooney, Louis Saha and Ruud van Nistelrooy all ahead of him in the pecking order.
With question marks still being raised about van Nistelrooy´s future, it was anticipated that Rossi will have a bigger role to play next term, but Queiroz has hinted that the New Jersey-born starlet could be loaned out instead.
"Giuseppe will not go out on loan this season," said Queiroz. "He is still working under the programme we set him at the beginning of the season and it will end as planned at the end of the season.
"We have nothing in our minds about letting him go out on loan before then, although next season is another story, and maybe then we can open up that possibility."
Preston and Ipswich Town both wanted to sign Rossi on loan before the Coca-Cola League transfer deadline
Gill: United can still be top club
--------------------------------------------------

UNITED chief executive David Gill refuses to buckle under Chelsea´s financial muscle.
The Reds have been given a glimmer of hope in this season´s title battle with the 2005 champions but the Londoners remain firm favourites for the Premiership crown.
However, despite Roman Abramovich´s bottomless pit of cash for Jose Mourinho, Gill says that United can still regain their status as England´s No1 soccer superpower.

"If the attitude towards Chelsea is that nobody can and will touch them, then we might as well all give up now," Gill told M.E.N. Sport.
Good shape
"Nobody at United subscribes to that view. I am sure we will come out with all guns blazing next season. We have some great players. We are going to strengthen in the summer and can look forward very positively.
"We clearly are looking for a midfield player or players and let´s see what happens there. The rest of the squad is in pretty good shape. I´d like to do all the business before the World Cup but it is not always feasible. If we can, we will; if not, we will do it when we can.
"The sooner you do it, the better for the players concerned. The sooner they get into the United family, the quicker they can integrate.
"We are confident we can secure the talent we want to bring in. It is a very exciting time for the club."
Rossi wants first team action
Manchester United striker Giuseppe Rossi has admitted that he may have to move away from Old Trafford to gain valuable first team action.
With Ruud van Nistelrooy forced to start recent games on the bench in favour of Louis Saha and Wayne Rooney, Rossi is aware that he may need to move elsewhere, albeit temporarily, in order to maintain his development.
"I want to gain experience," said the 19-year-old, who has scored 26 goals for the United reserves in this campaign.
"One way of doing it might be to go out on loan - in the Premiership, I hope.
"Nothing is going to happen this year, but I guess next season there might be talks about it."
Championship sides Preston and Ipswich were both keen to sign the youngster on loan before the Coca-Cola league transfer deadline, but it is likely that he will remain with The Red Devils until the end of the season.
The American-born Italian moved to Sir Alex Ferguson´s side in August 2004 on a free transfer from Parma. With four goals in ten senior appearances this season, his manager has hailed him the most natural goalscorer to come through United ranks since Paul Scholes.
The young striker admits that a move to Old Trafford was an easy decision:
"Once I knew United were after me, there was no other decision to make," said Rossi.
Ferguson sees Rossi as the future of the club, but a loan move next season may well be on the cards.
Rossi veut bien etre preter la saison prochaine.
Fergie will still blood youth
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes that clubs should still try to produce their own youth rather than rely on foreigners for success.
United are famous for bringing through some of the best young talent in world football and a large majority have gone on to international honours for their country.
Speaking at one of the club´s centres of excellence, Ferguson insisted that his club want to give youngsters the best possible chance of making the grade.
"You mention the word heritage and history and you can´t lose that part of what you are," the Scot told Sky Sports News.
"You see the kids here today and that´s what Manchester United is about, young people. We always try to produce the best young players we can.
"I think the most important thing is that players have come through that particular route themselves, they´re local boys.
"Ryan Giggs and Wes Brown are local boys who came to our school of excellence and progressed the way hopefully some of these young kids are going to.
"What we´re trying to do all over this academy is show the history of the club, all the corridors have photographs of great players we produced ourselves.
"It´s an incentive to them that it can be done and that any young kid coming through the books at Manchester United will get an opportunity."
Neville issues Reds warning
Gary Neville has warned any incoming players to Old Trafford that he has no intention of relinquishing his right back berth.
The Manchester United captain will make his 500th appearance for the club on Saturday against Birmingham, becoming just the seventh player to reach such a milestone.
With Sir Alex Ferguson in the process of building a side that revolves around the precocious talents of youngsters Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo, there have been several new players to arrive at the club this season and it is expected more big money buys will be forthcoming in the summer.
Neville, though, remains a key player for Ferguson and in any case, the England international admits he is not fazed by the threat of new players.
Having broken in to United´s first team in 1992, Neville has seen off the threat of several pretenders to his crown and he is willing to do so again.
´´The end will have to come one day,´´ Neville told The Times.
´´We have been linked with a few right backs in my time - Cafu, Hatem Trabelsi, Cicinho - but I remember one of the lads giving Ryan Giggs some stick, as you do, when we signed Jesper Blomqvist.
´´He just turned around and said: ´´He´d better be good.´´ And if we sign another right back, he had better be good because I´m not going to give up easily.
´´It would be another challenge, but I have been facing those since I was 11-years-old, wondering if I was good enough.
´´And I need to keep asking myself those questions if I am to make it to 500.´´
Il a toujours l´envie notre capitaine...
Solskjaer to be offered new deal
Manchester United are ready to offer injury-hit striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a new Old Trafford contract.
The Norwegian forward has been sidelined for the best part of three seasons and is currently recovering from a broken cheekbone.
But United are set to offer the 33-year-old a pay-as-you-play deal.
Chief executive David Gill told the Manchester Evening News: "We want to keep Ole at the club and we are going to sort that out."
Solskjaer´s goal won the 1999 European Cup for United and he has battled his way back from two serious knee injuries.
Gill revealed United are willing to repay his efforts with a new deal.
He added: "He has been a fantastic player for us and a fantastic individual.
"I know he wants to stay and I am sure something will be sorted out.
"We have to make sure any deal reflects the situation and that it is appropriate.
"Both parties want to make it work and I am sure we will."
Commence à m´enerver Chelsea là.
Chelsea : Tevez et Mascherano dans le viseur
mar 21 mar, 15h36
