Villarreal reject Roman rumours
Villarreal have played down reports linking Juan Roman Riquelme with a move to Manchester United.
United are believed to have made the Argentine schemer their top summer transfer target as they look to bolster their midfield.
Riquelme impressed United during their meeting in this season´s UEFA Champions League.
Old Trafford chief Sir Alex Ferguson is a big admirer of the former Barcelona man and has watched him on several occasions this season.
Ferguson cast an eye over Riquelme during Villarreal´s clash with Rangers at Ibrox last month and United´s chief scout Martin Ferguson was an interested observer during Sunday´s clash with Real Mallorca.
United are thought to be lining up a major offer in the summer to test Villarreal´s resolve to hang onto Riquelme.
Villarreal director general Jose Manuel Llaneza insists the club have not had any contact with United and that they are not thinking of selling him.
"We only know about the rumours in the press," said Llaneza.
"At this moment Villarreal do not think of sales because we are at key stages of this season in La Liga and the Champions League.
"These questions can wait until the end of the season."
