Manchester United chief executive David Gill says The Red Devils are not interested in signing Real Madrid´s Thomas Gravesen, and that the North West giants will open the chequebook to sign two star names next summer.

United had been strongly linked with a move for the Danish international, as boss Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to reinforce his midfield options with the likes of Darren Fletcher and John O´Shea failing to impress.

However, Gill has now stated that United are not pursuing a deal for the former Everton ace, despite the player himself previously indicating that the English club had tabled a bid for his services.

"We are not interested in Gravesen," said Gill. "We have [Nemanja] Vidic and [Patrice] Evra now but, as Alex says, it is clear we need to strengthen in midfield.

"We´ve not spent all of this year´s transfer budget.

"Maybe people did not think we had money after the takeover.

"We will see what happens this summer, but there´s cash to spend."

Gill also stated that American owners the Glazer family will continue to back Ferguson in the transfer market, indicating that star names will arrive at Old Trafford in the summer to follow the January arrival of both Monaco star Evra and strong stopper Vidic.

"You don´t spend the type of money we have on two new players when you are not supporting your manager," said Gill.

"Everyone associated with the club understands that success on the pitch drives everything.

"The Glazer family are very interested and supportive of what we are doing.

"They have said all along there would be money for players and have demonstrated that with these signings.

"We will also be making one or two very big signings in he summer.

"The players we want are playing in the Champions League, so we will have to wait."

A priori plus de recrue avant cet été où l´on devrait voir arriver 2 stars au milieu de terrain. On aura forcement un milieu defensif et peut-etre un nouvel ailier gauche ou un remplaçant pour Scholes.

Manchester United starlet Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed he shunned approaches from Valencia and Juventus to stay at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese international has established himself as one of Europe´s brightest prospects since joining United from Sporting Lisbon two-and-a-half years ago.

He proved his commitment to The Red Devils by signing a two-year contract extension back in November that ties him to the Premiership outfit until 2010.

However, it has now come to light that some of Europe´s biggest clubs have tried to prise him from United despite that bumper deal.

Indeed, the player himself claims he had the chance to leave England, but intends to stay at Old Trafford at least until his current contract expires.

"I want to stay at Manchester United until 2010," Ronaldo told Brazilian newspaper ´Lance´.

"I have proposals from various clubs including Valencia and Juventus, but I want to stay here."

The 20-year-old also went on to insist he has a long way to go before establishing himself as a United great, despite comparisons with the likes of former favourite David Beckham and Brazilian star Ronaldinho.

"I feel very honoured by these comparisons, but I have a long way to go to become Beckham´s replacement and to play like Barcelona´s Ronaldinho," he added.

On 35M£ mais il faut retirer l´argent qu´on a déjà utilisé pour Vidic et Evra. Il ne devrait y avoir que 2 recrues au maximum cet été.

Diarra, je suis pas sûr que ce soit une excellente idée, il peut etre amené à jouer la CAN et on peut pas dire qu´on ait beaucoup de milieu defensif capable de tenir la route mis à part Smith.

Faire signer Rosicky , Ballack, Vicentet et ouais pourquoi pas Diarra même si je preferais avoir Gattuso et la l´equipe sera enfin capable de rivaliser avec les autres gros et dire que je pensait que on aurait 15 millions de livre pour recruter cette été

Glazer a de l´argent, c´est MU qui n´en a plus... Dans son plan initial, on etait censé avoir 25M£ par an donc c´est pas anormal de voir ça.

Ouais j´ai vu l´info aussi ca a l´air pas mal, ils parlent de joueurs qui jouent la CL

Faudrait penser assez rapidement à l´après Ruud, Neville et Scholes pour ne pas se retrouver encore avec un temps d´attente avant de redevenir compétitif.
