Ruud shock: Striker heading to Madrid, claims agent

Dutch star Ruud van Nistelrooy is ready to follow Roy Keane out of Manchester United next summer and join Real Madrid.
In a second devastating blow to manager Sir Alex Ferguson and United´s fans within a week, striker Van Nistelrooy is poised to give in to the persistent interest of the Spanish giants.

If he and Keane were both to leave Old Trafford, Ferguson´s team would be rocked by the loss of their captain and only consistent goalscorer - he scored twice in United´s 3-2 win at Fulham yesterday.

And that could even hasten the manager´s own departure as the empire he built in the last 20 years begins to crumble.

Last night Van Nistelrooy´s close friend and agent, Rodger Linse, said: "It´s possible that things are going to happen next summer but that´s all I will say for the moment. If I say more, I will not be able to keep the English and Spanish press off my back. But at this stage I don´t want to lie about it either."

Previous attempts

Asked how many times Real had tried to sign Van Nistelrooy in the past, Linse added: "Enough times. We have had enough talks. At some stage, over the last two seasons, Real were very firm about a transfer. They have even put an offer on the table at United. Ruud was going to earn much more money in Madrid but he felt he had not completed his mission at United."

With United now struggling to compete with ******* on the field and in the transfer market, Van Nistelrooy, who will be 30 next July, seems to have changed his mind.

A move to Real would increase the Dutchman´s £90,000-a-week wages to the galactico level of up to £120,000 and allow him to link up once more with David Beckham. Van Nistelrooy publicly lamented Beckham´s departure to Real two years ago and feels the service he receives has deteriorated significantly as a result.

Keane´s claim that he is unlikely to be at Old Trafford after his contract runs out at the end of this season has been seen as a way of putting pressure on the United board to give him a new deal.

Sources close to Keane claim that Celtic have already offered the Irishman a two-year contract as a player to match his reputed £90,000-a-week wages at Old Trafford. The Glasgow giants would also foster Keane´s ambitions to move into coaching once his playing career ends.

New challenge for Keane

Keane´s apparent desire for a new challenge will only add to the growing feeling in the Van Nistelrooy camp that the time has come for the Dutchman also to seek pastures new.

Linse said: "Ruud does wish to play in Spain. It is not a case of ´must´, more an urge. When he has the chance, he could move there. And I would love to see him play his football there, too."

Linse may have his own reasons for wanting Van Nistelrooy to leave. Even before the Glazer family took over United and began looking to cut costs, the board had stopped sanctioning bumper payments to agents when their players signed new contracts.

The £1.2million Linse received for negotiating the four-year deal Van Nistelrooy signed in January 2004 was revealed by United last year when they came under pressure from then shareholders JP McManus and John Magnier.

But the decision to leave United will be down to Van Nistelrooy himself. Sadly for the club, it seems that he may be ready to make it.

Van Nistelrooy agent dismisses exit talk

Ruud van Nistelrooy is staying at Manchester United, according to his agent.

The Dutch striker has been linked with a move to La Liga and possibly Real Madrid at the end of the season.

However the player´s representative Rodger Linse said Van Nistelrooy is putting down roots in Manchester and is buying a house.

´Ruud is happy at Manchester United,´ Linse told the Manchester Evening News.

´As a matter of fact he is in the process of buying a house in Manchester. Previously he had rented but now he is buying somewhere. Why would he buy a house if he wants to leave the club?´

Van Nistelrooy, who signed a new United deal until 2008 in January last year, scored his seventh league goal of the season in the 3-2 defeat of Fulham at Craven Cottage.

He is forming a fine partnership with Wayne Rooney, who also found the target at the weekend. In fact the pair of them have scored all of United´s 10 Premiership goals.

Linse has become increasingly irritated by speculation surrounding Van Nistelrooy.

´It is just ridiculous,´ he said. ´Every year it is the same thing with rumours of Ruud leaving. This story is incorrect.´

United weigh up January bid

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is weighing up a January bid for Didier Zokora, according to reports in France.

The Ivory Coast international is rated as one of the finest defensive midfielders in Le Championnat following Michael Essien´s move from Lyon to Chelsea, and Ferguson has been impressed by the St Etienne star.

Speculation is rife that United could even propose a draft agreement within the next month or so in preparation for securing the 24-year-old´s signature in the New Year.

The Red Devils are keen to find a long-term replacement for Roy Keane with Alan Smith gallantly filling in for the injured Republic of Ireland international, who has admitted this could be his last season at Old Trafford.

Zokora does have African Cup of Nations commitments in 2006 but is believed to be one of the names on Ferguson´s wanted list.

Indeed, the midfield pivot has already declared that both United and Chelsea have been tracking his progress for some time.

Bayern Munich star Michael Ballack has long been touted as first option and it does seem certain there will be movement in that area of the United squad come the next transfer window.

Skipper Keane to help Smith

Roy Keane feels Alan Smith has a chance of being his long-term successor at Manchester United.

Smith is currently holding the midfield fort for The Red Devils while Keane recovers from a broken bone in his foot.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has converted Smith into a midfielder this season, having signed him as a striker from Leeds United.

Ferguson is hoping to groom Smith into a viable replacement for Irish firebrand Keane, who is primed to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season.

Keane has been encouraged by the start Smith has made to playing in the anchor role and believes the England international has acquitted himself well.

But the 34-year-old also believes that Smith still has much to learn if he is to pick up his mantle as a midfield enforcer.

"I think he´s done well," said Keane. "I´ve looked at him at close quarters and I think Alan´s got a good chance of playing in that role.

"But Alan would be the first to admit he has got a lot to learn. He´s been talking about the role over the last few weeks.

"I like to try and judge players on their performances and not what they are going to do, so hopefully in time, Alan will become that player."

With Keane unlikely to return to action for at least another month, he admits he will be on hand to provide Smith with any advice he requires.

He added: "I´m quite happy to help Alan out, give him the bits of advice that he needs because it is a disciplined role."

Keane a l´air d´avoir choisit son successeur.

On apprend pas un nouveau poste du jour au lendemain, mais avec de bons conseils et beaucoup de travail pourquoi pas, d´autres joueurs à MU ont aussi évolué sur le terrain dans leur carrière...Je pense qu´il faudra le juger en fin de saison, et voir si réellement il a le (haut) niveau pour ce poste.

Moi je dit smith c´est pas sur d´etre le new roy keane...il vaudrait mieu prendre diarra de lyon qui est jeune..et bon ...(ballack serait tres bien aussi comme nouvelle recure mais il a 29..et va sur la 30 ans)...il vaut mieu continuer de voir sur la jeunesse..... ensuite pour ferguson il faudrait qu´il parte a la fin de l´anée, il a fait enormement pour Mu mais 3 ans sans rien gagner c honteu pour Mu ....si sa continue , nous allons fair comme liverpool...on a eu notre temps...et dans qelque anne on gagnera la champions league...:s je prefere gagner tt les an le championnat et ne pas gagner la champions league pour l´instant....

Virer Fergie, je vois vraiment pas l´interet c´est un des meilleurs entraineurs au monde alors je vois pas par qui on le remplacerait d´autant qu´il connait bien le club.

Et puis c´est pas lui qui prend les buts ou les marque, c´est pas lui qui ne joue pas à son meilleur niveau.

La seule chose qu´on peut lui reprocher c´est un recrutement parfois hasardeux et encore parce que Veron etait excellent en italie quant on l´acheté, Forlan a prouvé qu´il etait doué l´an dernier.

Je pense que Smith pourrait bien etre la solution parce qu´il est loin d´etre mauvais à ce poste meme si c´est pas parfait alors que ça fait que 3 mois qu´il y joue. Et avec Jones, Mikel et Miller, on doit bien pouvoir trouver une solution interessante.

méme si je suis pro fergie on ne peut pas nier que fergie a fait pas mal d´erreurs couteuse pour le club ses derniéres années ..

Même si il a fait des erreurs, on peut pas virer un monument comme lui !! Il est partie intégrante du club, le virer pour "manque de résultats" ce serait vraiment déshumaniser encore plus le club et le foot en général ...

Man Utd : never mind the "Ballack" ? (05/10)
Les Red Devils vont-ils parvenir un jour à arracher Michael Ballack aux griffes du Bayern Munich. Celui que l´on annonçait l´été dernier comme la priorité absolue de Sir Alex Ferguson évolue pourtant toujours en Bavière. Le tabloïde anglais The Mirror reparle du transfert puisque Ballack, à 29 ans, sera libre en janvier prochain alors que le montant estimé du transfert en juillet était de plus de 12 millions d´euros. Un pré-contrat serait déjà rédigé et l´annonce du départ de Roy Keane de Man Utd pourrait accélérer les négociations.

Ivan Helguera (30 ans, Real Madrid) est annoncé aux quatre coins de l´Europe. Début septembre, après l´arrivée de Sergio Ramos du FC Séville, il parlait même de jouer pour le Barça, le rival historique du Real. Il y a quelques jours, on parlait de lui à Newcastle où joue déjà son ancien partenaire, Michael Owen. Skysports révèle aujourd´hui que Carlos Queiroz, ancien coach du Real et assistant de Sir Alex Ferguson à Manchester United aurait contacté Helguera pour qu´il rejoigne les Red Devils. Par la même occasion, le site britannique nous informe que la Juve, l´Inter, la Roma ainsi que le Bayern Munich gardent tous un oeil attentif sur l´évolution de la situation du Madrilène dans les prochaines semaines.

pour helguera je pense que serai une mauvaise idee

Si c´est pour le faire jouer milieu defensif pourquoi pas mais je vois pas trop l´interet de le prendre, c´est notre milieu qui a besoin de sang neuf au vue de ses perfs actuelles et comme c´est plutot un defenseur en ce moment, je doute qu´on le recrute pour le faire jouer ailleurs.

Cela dit je n´y crois pas trop, c´est un peu le meme cas que Solari.

Les Reds Devils sont à la recherche d’un remplaçant pour le vieillissant Roy Keane, qui peine à assurer son rôle sur le terrain depuis quasiment deux saisons. Ballack avait été un temps pressenti à Old Trafford pour prendre sa succession mais l’affaire ne s’était finalement pas faite.

Concernant le dossier Zokora, Manchester devra faire face à la concurrence de Cheslsea, qui lui aussi suit depuis un moment le compatriote de Didier Drogba. On peut cependant douter de l’intérêt du dernier champion d’Angleterre de recruter un joueur de son profil sachant qu’il possède déjà trois des meilleurs joueurs mondiaux à ce poste : Lampard, Makelele et Essien.

Sir Alex Ferguson devrait commencer les négociations afin de pouvoir conclure l’affaire dès l’ouverture du mercato, reste à savoir si Elie Baup laissera partir en pleine saison un des meilleurs éléments de son effectif...
