Giggs to carry on for Wales

Ryan Giggs will continue to represent Wales while he feels his country have a chance of qualifying for a major tournament.

The Manchester United winger is among the best players to never have the opportunity to grace the stage of a World Cup or European Championship.

The closest he came to an appearance in a major competition was when Wales were beaten by Russia in a Euro 2004 play-off.

Giggs, who missed his country´s friendly against Slovenia in midweek due to a chest infection, admits he has no immediate plans to retire from international football.

The 31-year-old is now the Wales captain and will lead his nation in next month´s World Cup qualifier against England.

Wales have no chance of reaching next summer´s finals in Germany and coach John Toshack is already preparing for the 2008 European Championship.

Giggs appears to be in Toshack´s long-term plans and the Red Devils wide man is more than willing to be available for the next set of qualifiers.

" I wouldn´t keep going if I didn´t think Wales could qualify one day for a major tournament," said Giggs.

" We have to try as hard as we can to get to a major championships because that is what everybody wants.

" If you asked me if I would give up another title at Manchester United in return for seeing Wales in a finals I would say no because I want both.

" Both are achievable in the next few years. You want the title because you want to be the best in your league but I still want international success too."

Rooney serait content si on jouait comme ça, perso je prefere quand meme notre bon vieux 4-4-2 parce que je vois pas trop ou Giggs va jouer maintenant qu´on est passé au 4-3-3.

C´est pas s´adapter le probleme, Giggs est un avant-centre à la base et maintenant il joue ailier alors il devrait y arriver.

Aston Villa are without striker Kevin Phillips and defender Martin Laursen.

Phillips (stomach) will be replaced by Luke Moore while Laursen´s (knee) place goes to Liam Ridgewell. Patrik Berger, Mark Delaney and Lee Hendrie are out.

En gros Cicinho a été autorisé a rater l´entrainement cette semaine, il est allé en Italie régler son probléme de passeport car MU voudrait qu´il ait un passeport européen. Il a raté des matchs du coup...Il a jusqu´au 31 pour avoir son passeport. Si d´ici la fin du we rien ne bouge il sera à l´entrainement lundi avec São Paulo. Il pourrait jouer en championnat mercredi...Sinon il pourrait signer à MU en janvier 2006.

Sir Alex Ferguson has hinted that Ryan Giggs can no longer expect to be an automatic choice for Manchester United.

Giggs has spent the past 14 years as a regular in the United side but he now faces a battle to force his way into the team.

The Welsh winger has missed the start of the season with a chest infection, while new signing Park Ji-sung is also threatening his place.

With Ferguson preferring to abandon his former trusted 4-4-2 formation, in favour of a 4-3-3 style, Giggs´ position is under threat.

Ferguson believes Giggs´ versatility still has a vital role to play in his plans but he has suggested that the 31-year-old will not be guaranteed a place in his first-choice team.

"I am very happy with the four I have started with - Ruud van Nistelrooy, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Park Ji-sung," said Ferguson.

"I have been very delighted with Ji-sung. I am very happy with him. He did fantastic against Everton.

"I have those four and I now have options of playing Ryan Giggs up there if I want to and Alan Smith up there if I want to.

"I now have these options, which is great, but the main thrust will come from those four that I mentioned.

"Giggs can play up front. He is at the age where he would be terrific in that role off the front man where Rooney plays. It gives me an alternative there.

"He could also play wide left, of course, or left side of a midfield three. He has that versatility about him now, Ryan. He has the experience."

Meanwhile, Ronaldo admits The Red Devils´ prime target this season is to reclaim the Premiership title.

Ronaldo said: "Our main objective is to win back The Premiership but I also believe we have a good chance of doing well in the Champions League.

"We know it is not going to be easy but it´s important not to worry about other teams and just concentrate on what we can do.

"I´m sure we will improve on last season. We have a great squad of players and I´m confident we have the ability to challenge Chelsea."

Villa today suffered a double blow injury wise for tomorrows big game against Manchester United.

Kevin Phillips pulled a stomach muscle in training sometime this week, but it is nothing to serious so he will be returning by tuesdays trip to Portsmouth.

Martin Laursen will be the other player missing the Manchester United game, he will also miss the portsmouth game, we do not actually know when he will be back.

Laursen injury is down to his knee once again, its just something which wont go away, laursen says the injury has not put his career in jeopardy like some rumours have said, but he says it could leave him out of a few games.

Laursen has also said when he returns he will return stronger than ever.

Laursen will be visiting a Colorado based doctor to see what the full injury with his knee is

Lets just hope it isn to serious, and Kevin Phillips out in injury it will force young luke moore into the squad....this is what happens when you dont have enough strikers...
