Rooney happy at United
Wayne Rooney insists he is happy to play wherever for Manchester United.
Reports have suggested that Rooney was unhappy at not being played in a central striking role, with the 19-year-old being employed as a wide player in Sir Alex Ferguson´s 4-3-3 formation.
Rooney insists he has no problems with his position and is content to play wherever he is asked.
" I class myself as a centre forward and that´s where I prefer to play, but I played most of last season out wide or just off the main striker, so I can play different positions," said Rooney.
" I agree with the manager that it helps you as a player, if you can do that."
Rooney, who started the season with a goal in the victory at old club at Everton, believes he has improved as a player since making the switch to Old Trafford.
" Moving to a club like Manchester United was always going to benefit me a lot, playing with the players I´m playing with and working with Sir Alex," added Ferguson.
" I´ve learnt a lot and I think I´ve matured a lot, both on and off the field. I think I had to move on, for myself, and I think it has really benefited me."
The hot-headed forward also revealed he is hoping to curb his temper which has seen him in the headlines for the wrong reasons on occasions.
" I´m looking to mature a lot more than I have done in previous seasons," said Rooney.
" I want to make sure I don´t get booked for dissent. If you look at any match, every player´s doing it. But it gets highlighted a lot more because of who I am.
" I´m looking to cut out the silly bookings."
