Why Fergie´s Keane On Ballack Deal
Sir Alex Ferguson has dropped his biggest hint yet that he wants Michael Ballack. The Manchester United boss is keen to find a long-term successor to Roy Keane in the heart of his midfield and has been tracking the Bayern Munich star for months. Ballack, 28, issued a come-and-get- me plea to United when he revealed he wanted to move abroad and Ferguson has admitted he would be interested. " We need somebody with experience to complement the nucleus of young players like Smith, Rooney and Ronaldo that we already have," he said. Bayern would be prepared to sell Ballack for around £8million if he continues to refuse the Bundesliga side´s offer of a new deal.

ca poussera sans doutekeano sur le banc .

Fergie Ultimatum For Keane
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has told captain Roy Keane to prove his fitness before the club´s tour of the Far East next week. Keane picked up a hamstring problem. Last night Ferguson said that Keane and fellow injury victim Wes Brown will miss United´s Champions League qualifiers next month if they do not have enough match practice. Ferguson said: " We´re keen for Roy and Wes to join us as the first leg of the Champions League qualifier is on August 9 or 10, which is only a week after we get back from the tour."

Fergie backs Jose´s claims

Sir Alex Fergsuon has backed Jose Mourinho´s claims that Arsenal received preferential treatment from The Football Association over the fixture schedule.

Mourinho could find himself in trouble with The FA after blasting the fact that Chelsea face five away games out of six following Champions League games compared to Arsenal´s five at home

The Portuguese tactician also suggested that the presence of Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein on the FA board gave advantages to Arsenal above Chelsea.

Ferguson has thrown his support behind Mourinho, and revealed he has been complaining about the issue for the last seven seasons.

" He´s dead right, by the way. He´s spot on," said Ferguson. " You look at the fixtures Arsenal have after European games - it has been going on for years.

" He´s only taken a year to find that out. I have been complaining about that for seven years and no-one listens to me. Maybe they will listen to Mourinho more."

Turning his attentions to the title race, Ferguson is confident his side can wrestle The Premiership crown away from Chelsea this season.

Although Ferguson concedes United can no longer match Chelsea in the transfer market, he feels he has the playing staff to bring the title back to Old Trafford.

" We want to show we can win titles on these new terms - and I think we have the playing resources to do it," added Ferguson.

" I can´t believe some of the things Chelsea have done in the transfer market - it´s incredible. But I also believe we have the players to win the league.

" I believe you can still get on with business without worrying about Chelsea. They can´t buy all the players."

Meanwhile, United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz has brushed off the jeering of Rio Ferdinand during Saturday´s friendly win at Clyde.

Ferdinand was booed with his every touch by a section of fans as he continues to stall over a signing a new deal, but Queiroz was not worried by the reaction and insists Ferdinand will not be affected.

" That´s not a concern," said Queiroz. " It´s just a reaction from some fans and no more so it will not bother him."

Reds plan Ballack talks
Stuart Mathieson
MANCHESTER United are set for a Tokyo summit with Bayern Munich in 10 days´ time to discuss a potential move for German star Michael Ballack.

Sir Alex Ferguson has declared that only an experienced performer can improve his Reds squad for the coming season.

And 28-year-old Ballack, who has indicated he´d like a switch to the Premiership after appearing to lose faith at Bayern, is entering the peak years of his career. He has the stature and CV to add to Fergie´s pool.

United fly into Tokyo on July 27 for the third match of their pre-season tour of the Far East.

They play Kashima Antlers in Tokyo the same day that Bayern and Ballack face FC Tokyo as part of the their final warm-up for the start of the Bundesliga on August 5.

Capital

Both Old Trafford officials and top brass from the German champions will be in the Japanese capital for four days with United then playing Urawa Red Diamonds in Saitama on July 30 and Bayern ending their build up against Yubilo Iwata.

If Ferguson has targeted Ballack as his big name import for the close season, then the two sets of officials would use the convenient crossing of their paths to meet up.

The £12m-rated Ballack still has a year left on his contract in Munich but he has expressed a wish to move on.

He´s been playing in the Confederation Cup this summer and has missed Bayern´s second training camp of the summer in Bonn that is currently ongoing.

Meanwhile, United are now being touted as favourites to take Michael Owen from Real Madrid. But United would have to offload Alan Smith or Louis Saha if they wanted to do business.

:d) United Sign Revolutionary Media Deal

--------------------------------------------------
------------------------------

Manchester United has signed a revolutionary four year deal with Haymarket Network in a move that could transform the way football clubs communicate with their fans.

Haymarket, who already produce the Club’s award-winning match programme, are to take over editorial responsibility for United magazine and the biggest club website in the world manutd.com.

The new team will work from Old Trafford and Haymarket’s London offices and is charged with designing Club publications to meet the needs of different fans’ groups, starting with the first Premier League home game of the season on 20 August against Aston Villa.

Manchester United Chief Executive David Gill said: " Haymarket are the ideal partner to develop the Club’s media business in the UK and overseas. We have established a great relationship with them over the last three years; they understand the industry and the way we work."

Haymarket Network’s Chairman Kevin Costello said: " I am delighted that we have been given this chance to work across the Club’s media titles. Manchester United is known the world over. It’s our job to produce publications that make the Club’s fans feel informed and entertained from Trafford to Thailand."

The Club’s Commercial Director, Andy Anson added: " Haymarket have unparalleled expertise in football publishing. Bringing all our titles under one supplier allows us to be consistent in all of our media and helps us to minimise the number of media approaches we make to our players and coaching staff."
