Atletico aware of Utd interest
Atletico Madrid are aware of Manchester United´s interest in star man Pablo Ibanez, but insist that only a bid of around £20 million could persuade them to part with the defender.
The Spain international has been scouted several times by United, with Sir Alex Ferguson´s son Martin watching a whole host of top Spanish stars.
Villarreal´s Jose Reina, Ivan De La Pena of Espanyol, Racing Santander´s Mario Regueiro and Anderson Silva, and Sevilla´s Sergio Ramos have all been eyed by Ferguson - but it is Ibanez that has caught the most attention.
United have not made formal contact over the player, but the club´s director of sport Toni Munoz confirmed that they were aware of interest.
" We know about the rumours and there have been scouts from England present at several games," said Munoz.
" Officially, we have had absolutely no contact.
" Pablo is intransferable because any club interested in his services would have to pay €30 million - that is his value."
Ibanez himself insists that he is firmly concentrating on his current side, and not considering rumours about his future.
" I have seen the news in the papers, but I am calm and happy at Atletico Madrid," said Ibanez.
" These rumours are not news to me. When I played at Albacete, I was wanted by Italian sides, and now I am wanted by English sides.
" I don´t really take much notice, and my future depends on Atletico Madrid."
Fergie´s Heinze fear
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson fears Gabriel Heinze will miss next month´s FA Cup final.
The Argentine, who has made a huge impression since moving to Old Trafford from Paris Saint Germain last summer, turned his ankle in last week´s win over Newcastle.
Scans revealed damage to his ligaments and Ferguson feels the rampaging defender may struggle to make the clash with Arsenal in Cardiff on May 21.
Ferguson, though, believes the 27-year-old´s fantastic attitude could enable him to make an ahead of schedule return to action.
" It is a race against time for the final - but knowing him he is such a determined and brave lad he will want to play," said Ferguson.
" He deserves to be there and we will give him every chance."
Sir Alex warning for Rio
Sir Alex Ferguson has warned Rio Ferdinand that he will not be " messed around" over the defender´s contract negotiations with Manchester United.
The England international continues to stall over signing fresh terms at Old Trafford and Ferguson is not happy with the delay.
" Rio´s agent is apparently out of the country," stated the United boss.
" There is nothing much we can do about that but, when he gets back, we want a decision.
" It is important to the Manchester United fans that they get one.
" We are not going to be messed about.
" We have shown great faith in signing these players and we need to see it returned."
The harsh warning for Ferdinand shows Ferguson´s determination to quash any speculation that Chelsea are stalking the England international.
Ferguson is in an uncompromising mood regarding contracts after knocking back claims from Roy Carroll´s agent Francis Martin that the Northern Ireland number two might yet commit his future to The Red Devils.
" Roy Carroll´s agent has been talking to the press but he has not spoken to us for months so we don´t know the situation there," he explained.
Rio: I do want to sign
Rio Ferdinand has reiterated his intent to sign a new contract after Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson warned the defender he would not be messed about.
Ferguson appears to be losing patience regarding the ongoing saga of Ferdinand´s contract extension at Old Trafford.
The latest impasse is due to Ferdinand´s agent - Pini Zahavi - being out of the country on business with the matter set to be picked up when he returns.
But, while Ferguson accepts the latest excuse, he has warned Ferdinand that both the club and the supporters are waiting for the England international to decide upon his future.
Ferdinand has attempted to quell any fresh concerns that he is stalling on committing himself to a new deal, with his present contract due to expire in 2007.
The centre half insists he will pen an extension with The Red Devils and is merely waiting for Zahavi to return to the country.
" I want to stay at Manchester United," vowed Ferdinand.
" I have said that from the beginning.
" I can understand the fans´ frustrations but people have to understand contract negotiations do not happen over one or two days.
" They can take time and this is one of those situations. My agent is out of the country, which has slowed things down a touch but hopefully they will be speeded up in the coming days.
" I am happy at Manchester United and I want to sign but these things do not happen overnight."
Glazer will not give up on United
Malcolm Glazer took blows from Manchester United and the Takeover Panel last night and responded with new determination to press ahead with an £800m takeover bid for the club. But the major obstacle to the American´s bid remains JP McManus and John Magnier, who will refuse to sell for the £3-a-share offer and will insist on at least £3.20. Glazer will spend a few of the 21 days he has left considering all options but at this stage he is more inclined to fight for control - leaving Magnier and McManus as the key.

Fergie can´t break Yank
Manchester United´s transfer plans were in chaos last night because of Malcolm Glazer´s attempts to buy the club. United have been unable to make progress with summer targets like Lyon pair Essien and Malouda because of the uncertainty surrounding the takeover bid. United have been unable to allocate funds for transfers and all the agents working for the club have been told to wait because the financial situation is so unclear.

c´est bien beau qu´il veule signer rio mais ca serait bien qu´ille fasse un jour . .

On a peut-etre reçu un don anonyme de 40M£...
C´était ma minute de générosité
^^
Lmarco pour tant de générosité. ^^
Fergie: Power has changed
Sir Alex Ferguson admits there has been a marked shift in power since he was a player, conceding managers no longer control the destiny of their charges.
The Manchester United boss has cultivated a reputation for being one of the most domineering managers the game has ever witnessed.
But the Scot acknowledged it is proving more difficult for a manager to wield the same sort of power that he noticed during his playing days.
The increased influence of agents has enabled players to gain the upper hand and Ferguson admits the tables have now been turned.
" There is great confusion about football nowadays," Ferguson told Sky Sports News.
" It seems to be the other way about from when I was a player.
" You were waiting for that knock, your turn to see the manager and you´d be hopeful he´d retain you.
" Now, it is the other way round, choosing whether to accept the offer. It´s all to do with the power of players and agents today.
" It´s a different era, a different day and you have to deal with it accordingly.
" Negotiation is longer, patience is required but you´ve got to remember that Manchester United is a big club at the end of the day and we´re not going to be messed about."
The Red Devils are aiming to finish the season on a positive note by beating fierce rivals Arsenal in the FA Cup final at The Millennium Stadium.
But Ferguson fears the prospects of pipping The Gunners for second spot in The Premiership are less promising.
He added: " I think Arsenal are clear favourites.
They need to drop five points in four games.
" I was hoping they´d drop points against Tottenham but they won so it´s a bit more difficult for us."
Il parle beaucoup, aujourd´hui, Sir Alex.
il doit avoir envie de parler
je susi pas convaincu par malouda si on a un peu d´argent
