Give Roy my job
Sir Alex Ferguson last night named Roy Keane as the man he would like to see succeed him as Manchester United manager. On the eve of today´s FA Cup semi-final against Newcastle, Fergie said he had no intention of stepping down despite a disappointing season. But he added: " When I do move on I would like to see Roy taking over - he is a leader on he pitch and he could be that kind of leader sitting on the Manchester United bench too."
trés grande idée ! !!!
Rio grand
Rio Ferdinand last night handed Manchester United an FA Cup boost by agreeing to sign a new mega £110,000-a-week deal. Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed: " Rio wants to sign a contract. That is why we had a meeting on Friday and we are not far away. Hopefully we can get it signed in the next week or so." Ferdinand has agreed in principle a salary of £80,000 a week with £30,000 a week for image rights.

< <<< il va étre grassement payé le ferdinand ! !!!!!
I will stick to this system
Sir Alex Ferguson last night defended his controversial five-man midfield system, insisting: We must play this way to keep Roy Keane in the team. Fergie argued: " I don´t think the system is a dominant part of our failure. I think we are doing the right thing to retain Roy in our team. It is too easy for people to criticise. If we didn´t have Roy in the team we might change our tactics and play one off the front a little bit. But when did we last play 4-4-2? You tell me."

ca l´étonne pas qu´on gagne pas . .
sinon lyon est sur pires . .
What’s your assessment of how the season has gone for you?
Nicole Coates
" It has been frustrating. With the first injury, I had to go for an operation. I came back and had a good run of games, but then I got the injury to my Achilles. That meant three months out, which is the longest I have been out since joining the club. In that sense it has been difficult. But you have to take positives from each season, and this season I hope we can finish on a high. We were unbeaten in 20 games and I think that shows that the real difference was missing out on points at the start of the season, but since then we have been fairly consistent. That is a positive. And if we can finish the season by winning the FA Cup that would be great."
Continuing that run would presumably help for next season?
" Yes, it would and that’s important to do. We need to win as many games as we can so that we can take that into the new season."
You scored for Holland against Armenia recently, was that a weight off your shoulders?
" As a striker you’re always looking to get your first goal when you come back from an injury. That came against Armenia and in that sense it was good. You have the expectation of scoring because you’ve done it before. I know now I have to keep working and try to do all the things I have always done. That is the only thing you can try to do. Hopefully I’ll be back to my best form quickly. It can be hard sometimes, though. You come back from an injury and you want to be straight back to your best form. But it doesn’t always work out that way. You have to deal with that. And that’s what I am doing."
" You come back from an injury and want to be straight back to your best form. But it doesn´t always work that way. You have to deal with that. And that´s what I am doing."
Ruud van Nistelrooy
What does it feel like when so many fans shout your name after you´ve scored, and does that enhance the feeling of scoring a goal?
Greg Holland
" It does, definitely. It makes it an even better experience when you score and you get that reaction from the fans. It´s unbelievable. It’s the best feeling and I will never grow tired of it. It’s impossible to grow tired of it."
How did you develop the skill of being in the right place at the right time to score; is it a conscious decision to move into a certain position, or is it instinct?
Azman Hisham Daud
" You learn to use your instinct and act on that and you get better at it with experience. I think it’s about reading a situation. It’s important to have that understanding with your team-mates; knowing what they are going to do. I have to put myself in a position where I think the ball is going to end up. I have to anticipate whether a player will shoot and therefore you follow up for the rebound, or if he will cross, in which case I take my position. I try not to react to things that happen and instead I´ll look to be one step ahead of the defender. That level of understanding with your team-mates is vital and it´s something you have to work on every day in training."
You said that when you were younger you tried too hard to score the ‘perfect goal’. What would be the perfect goal for you now?
Cameron Aitken
" Right now? Any goal! A perfect goal would be to combine skill – turning past a defender or bringing the ball under control – and finishing ability. It is the best feeling to create your own goal at the highest level. You enjoy scoring a goal if you’ve gone past a defender, if you chip the goalkeeper or if you score in the top corner. Scoring great goals is one of the most beautiful things in the game."
Much has been made of the fact you are yet to score a goal outside the box for United. Does that ever bother you?
Robbie Naraine
" It’s strange because when I was in Holland or when I play for the national team, I’ve scored plenty of goals outside the box. It’s hard to say why I haven’t scored from outside the area since I’ve been here. I don’t feel like just a typical box player. Just because I haven’t done it here doesn’t mean, for me, that I am box player. I think I do more than that."
" You can want success and dream of winning trophies, but it starts with performances on the pitch every week. To be a part of that, to be part of a great team, that is my main goal."
Ruud van Nistelrooy
Is it a case of trying to have the attributes of a No.9 and a No.10; combining goalscoring instincts with creative play outside the area?
" Achieving that is important to me. As a striker, if you can have a little bit of both, even a lot of both, that is the highest level you can achieve in football for my position. That remains one of my constant ambitions, to realise that."
What do you want to achieve in your time at United?
Christopher Joboku
" It’s important that we grow as a team. We want to be the best as a team and success will then come with that. You can want success and dream of winning trophies, but it starts with the performances on the pitch every week. To be a part of that, to be part of a great team, that is my main goal."
Do you feel positive about the future at United and to what extent do you plan out your future at the club?
David Heath and Mark Jowett
" You always have to learn from the season and the games you play. I hope we do that and use that in the future. We must be looking to contend with the best teams and that always has to be our biggest goal here. Personally, I think it’s hard to plan in football. As far as you can you do. But you also have to concentrate on your performances in the short term, start with one game and move on to the next. It sounds clichéd, but you can’t say ‘in five years I will be doing this’. And in five years I’ll be 34 anyway."
How crucial has the FA Cup become to United now?
" It’s the most important thing for us at the moment. We know what the situation is, we have got one trophy left to go for and that’s the FA Cup. We’ve had a good run in the FA Cup. That’s the one that we have to get for this year."
Your record against Newcastle is good – eight goals in seven games - and the 0-0 draw in January 2004 is the only game you´ve not scored against them…
" I hope it shows! It’s a new game so you can’t count on your past form too much, but I hope the record will continue."
