Carroll Hoping To Reclaim No.1 Spot
Roy Carroll is determined to win his place back in United´s team after losing the No.1 spot to his goalkeeping colleague Tim Howard.
The Northern Ireland international has been Ferguson´s first-choice for much of this season. But Carroll lost his place in the side after the Reds lost the first-leg Champions League last 16 tie with AC Milan at Old Trafford.
Carroll spilled Clarence Seedorf´s shot allowing Hernan Crespo to snatch a late victory. However, the 27-year-old keeper is determined to win his place back.
" The Milan result was a big disappointment for us all," said Carroll. " We needed to bounce back from that and the win at Southampton last week allowed us to do that.
" Tim has got the spot at the moment but I will sit tight and hope something might happen," he told MUTV.
Carroll is hoping that his most involved season since joining from Wigan in 2001 will mean a prominent part in the remainder of United´s league and FA Cup matches.
" I have played 29 games so far this season, which is the best I have managed since I came here four years ago," he added.
" There are still another nine Premiership games and maybe two more in the FA Cup left to play this season and hopefully I will get a chance to play in some of them.
" Hopefully we can go all the way in the FA Cup again as well as maintaining our form in the league."

FERGIE IN ENGLAND THREAT
Sir Alex Ferguson has threatened to withdraw his Manchester United stars from England´s tour of America this summer.
Sven Goran Eriksson wants to take his troops across the Atlantic in May to play a week-long tournament, but the plans have not been well received by Ferguson.
The Scottish tactician has threatened to withhold the services of the likes Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Gary Neville from England´s tour.
" It is not a Fifa tournament so we´re not obliged to send our players," said Ferguson.
" We will have to assess who needs to rest and see who actually wants to go because players don´t always want to.
" Players with clubs at the top of the league will have had a much harder season than others."
Eriksson has defended his plans, saying that the timing of the week means that the players will still get a restful summer.
" We wanted to play now rather than use empty World Cup qualifying dates in June, to ensure the players have the chance to rest properly over the summer," said the Swede.
" It is a very good opportunity for me to be with the players for a week and to take a closer look at some of the newer members of the squad."
However, Ferguson may not be willing to play ball with the England boss, and has shown in the past that he can be stubborn when it comes to club versus country rows.
Ferguson has found support from an unlikely source in Arsenal counterpart Arsene Wenger, who is also opposed to England´s American trip and says The FA´s decision has been prompted by financial gains.
" On one hand you want the England national team to have a four-week break before the World Cup but then you don´t want to give them a holiday after a long and exhausting season," Wenger told the Evening Standard.
" I cannot understand the logic of going to the United States. Half the team will pull out anyway and the other half will be going after having played 55 games.
" I am not at all happy to lose Ashley [Cole] and Sol [Campbell]. But I didn´t organise the tour.
" The most important thing is to give the players a breather. But I think money might come into it."
Manchester united´s Ryan Giggs is still suffering the effects of a broken nose and will miss out, as will Darren Fletcher and Louis Saha ( both knee).
But Brazilian Kleberson is back in the squad along with Gary Neville.

Essien agent in stay hint
Lyon star Michael Essien´s agent has hinted the player will stay on at Stade Gerland for at least one more season despite growing interest from The Premiership.
Manchester United and Arsenal are both understood to be tracking the powerful midfielder who has developed into one of the hottest properties in French football at Lyon following a switch from Bastia 18 months ago.
The Ghana-born 22-year-old admits he is flattered by interest from England´s top clubs, but agent Fabien Piveteau has already opened talks with Lyon over a new deal and has revealed the player always planned to stay with the club for another campaign.
" When Michael Essien signed with Lyon, we stated it would be nice to stay three years," Piveteau stated.
Essien himself insists he is not affected by the ever-increasing speculation surrounding his future, and is leaving off-field matters in the hands of his representative.
" About the rumours, I close my ears, I let my agent manage that," he declared.
" But in the end, I will make the decision, as when I stated I wanted to go to Lyon and not Paris.
" I appreciate Premier League. But for the moment I have no idea. I still have three years remaining on my OL contract.
" But I appreciate Arsenal and Manchester too."
Giggs eyes extended deal
Welsh winger Ryan Giggs may be close to resolving his future with Manchester United.
The Old Trafford legend has only been offered a one year extension to his current deal to date, although reports suggest that United´s paymasters have relented and tabled a three year deal.
The 31-year-old is entering the twilight of his career, and has turned back the clock with a series of inspired performances this season.
The initial reluctance to grant Giggs a long term deal was part of the club´s policy not to offer lengthy contracts to ageing stars, but it is now reported that this cautious approach will be eschewed for one of Sir Alex Ferguson´s favourite players.
Giggs has made 628 appearances at the only club of his career, and could be close to resolving the row which had threatened his future with The
Red Devils.
Internazionale have been long term admirers of the player, and the Old Trafford faithful would no doubt be delighted if he committed the rest of his career to United.
