The Omen
Sir Alex Ferguson believes cocky Chelsea could come a cropper - and the omens point to him being right. The Manchester United boss is amazed that Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has claimed the championship race is over when there are still 10 games left. While Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho agrees with his target-man´s verdict, he may change his mind after seeing the extraordinary coincidences that point to the title being United´s this year. Ferguson´s side are now looking to claim their ninth crown in 13 years, just as Liverpool won nine in 13 in their heyday. And in an even spookier coincidence, the sequence of Liverpool victories in that spell is mirrored exactly by United´s roll of honour, including three title triumphs on the spin slap bang in the middle of their glory reign. " Their players are saying they have won the title already, which is quite bullish with 10 games to go," said Fergie.
David Anderson, Daily Mirror

Shut your gob, Drog
Alex Ferguson has warned Chelsea’s Didier Drogba he will make him eat his words. The Manchester United boss rapped: " Drogba is saying they have already won the title. But that’s bullish with 10 games to go because football can be a cruel game. I don’t know whether it is all confidence or bravado...or whether they are just trying to convince themselves." Fergie believes Drogba is showing a massive lack of respect and the Ivory Coast striker’s boast could come back to haunt him. United face Crystal Palace at 3pm today and could be just three points behind Chelsea by the time Blues kick off at Norwich at 5.15pm. Ferguson added: " I don’t know why Drogba has said it. They seem to be going to Norwich thinking it will be an easy game. We are approaching our game against Crystal Palace believing it will be tough. No game is easy at this time of year."

< <<< j´aime bien fergie mais bon . Le titre est fini . Chelsea a gagné . Qu ´on batte crystal palace au lieu de parler

AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso admits he would relish the chance to join Champions League rivals Manchester United.

The former Rangers player, 26, will line up against United on Tuesday night at Old Trafford.

He admits that he would welcome the chance to make Manchester home, but Gattuso concedes that Milan might put up a fight to keep him.

" My dream is to play for Manchester United in England," Gattuso told the Mail on Sunday.

" I know it is a bit soon to talk about because we have this big game coming up against United, but I have always been fascinated by them. I would love to have a new experience, even in the next year or two," he added.

" I would choose Manchester United ahead of Chelsea because the stadium has a very special atmosphere and the club is world famous, like Milan."

However Gattuso is not expecting any move to be imminent.

" When a club has been good to you, as Milan have been to me, and they say you are not for sale, it is difficult to know what you can do," Gattuso said.

" I have always been happy at Milan and I still am. But I think you need a new stimulus in your career. It is a question of the circumstances being right.

" I am sure Sir Alex knows all about me, because last year his assistant was Walter Smith, who had faith in me when I was young at Rangers."

Duo out for United

Gary Neville and Louis Saha have not travelled with Manchester United´s squad ahead of their match against Milan in the UEFA Champions League.

Neville was always a doubt after badly bruising an ankle against Portsmotuh last week.

The England defender did not feature in United´s disappointing 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace, with brother Phil deputising.

Saha was also not included in the playing squad for the Palace game, with the injury-hit striker again laid low by another knee injury.

" Gary and Louis are out," confirmed manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Manchester United trail 1-0 from the first leg at Old Trafford, and face a tough test in Italy
as they attempt to reverse the scoreline.

" It is a massive task. It is going to be a very difficult game for us because Milan do not lose many goals," added Ferguson.

" We have got to defend well but I have no doubts about the character of the team.

" We are capable of producing the top-class performance we will need."

Gattuso denies United talk

Milan star Gennaro Gattuso has denied that he stated a desire to join Manchester United in the near future.

The Rossoneri midfielder was interviewed ahead of their UEFA Champions League last 16 second leg clash with United at The Giuseppe Meazza on Tuesday.

However, Gattuso now claims that he was ´misunderstood´ by The Mail on Sunday.

" I haven´t said I want to go to Manchester," Gattuso explained to Telelombardia.

" I said that English football fascinates me, but I haven´t any intention to leave.

" I´ve only spoken about the possibility of leaving, when Milan decide they don´t want me.

But while they want me, I´ll surely stay.

" I don´t see why I´d have to leave the team that allowed me to become a big player and to win many things."

Explaining the quotes which appeared in England, the former Rangers star said he was misquoted.

" The journalist asked me a question saying that [Roy] Keane is set to hang up his boots and that the coach [Sir Alex Ferguson] appreciated me," he opined.

" I told him that I was flattered by this, but surely I have never said I want to leave Milan.

I´ve never said even a similar thing."

>> voila maintenant, il veut plus venir.

Simao in United snub

Benfica winger Simao Sabrosa has snubbed reported interest from Manchester United.

Speculation over the weekend claimed that the Portugal international has emerged as the latest target for United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

With Ryan Giggs´ future at Old Trafford still uncertain, Simao was put forward as a possible replacement for the Welshman on the left flank.

But the 25-year-old has asserted that he has no desire to follow compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo to United at this stage of his career.

The former Sporting Lisbon and Barcelona winger is tied to Benfica until 2010 and is happy with the Portuguese giants.

He admits that, despite The Red Devils being one of the world´s biggest clubs, Simao is not interested in joining the Premiership outfit.

" I have nothing to comment about that matter," Simao told Record.

" I have a contract here until 2010 and I am tranquil.

" During a long career, happily, I have had several clubs interested.

" But that interest [of Manchester United], at 25 years of age, does not stir anything in me."

> j´espere qu´on ne verra pas Simao chez nous, je le trouve terrible, vaut mieux Downing, c´est un meilleur investissement.
