C´est pour la saison 2003/2004* ^^

Manchester United have targetted Spurs keeper Paul Robinson. ( Daily Express)
>> Je trouve pas que Robinson soit meilleur que Howard ou Carroll. En plus, il risque de couter cher.
Arena: Howard a scapegoat
United States national team coach Bruce Arena claims Tim Howard has been made a scapegoat for Manchester United´s goalkeeping problems.
Howard started the season as Old Trafford number one but was abruptly axed from that position in September after mistakes against Bolton Wanderers and Lyon.
The American has not appeared in The Premiership since, with Roy Carroll having been given an extended run in the team.
But Carroll´s costly gaffe against Milan on Wednesday refuelled the debate about who should be United boss Sir Alex Ferguson´s first choice.
Howard´s international boss Arena feels his charge was treated unfairly when he was dropped and has been forced to shoulder much of the blame for the goalkeeping plight at Old Trafford.
" It was clearly the easy option to blame the American goalkeeper," Arena told the Daily Mail.
" Instead of sticking by him and building his confidence, it was decided that Tim should be out of the picture. Tim quickly became the scapegoat.
" Let´s face it, if somebody was going to be stood down from the team or sat down for a talking to, it was hardly going to be Roy Keane was it?
" It was easier for it to be Tim. What he needs is some experience and support when things are not going well. It didn´t happen."
Arena believes Howard should have been allowed to stay between the posts until Rio Ferdinand had returned to the team after suspension.
Ferdinand´s comeback, soon after Howard was dropped, coincided with United´s defence being shored up, and Arena feels his keeper would have benefited from playing with the England international ahead of him.
He added: " Tim was unlucky that he did not play behind a team that had the best defender in the world in it.
" Everybody knows that United´s defence statistics were way worse during the time that Rio Ferdinand was banned.
" I still believe he will become United´s number one for a long time and I know he will be the American number one."
Rooney: Reds´ Title Aspirations Linger On
Wayne Rooney says Manchester United remain capable of lifting the Premiership trophy.
The Reds have been unable to budge Chelsea´s nine-point lead at the league´s summit, but Rooney says one slip and the current leaders could lose their footing completely.
Despite the disappointment of losing to AC Milan, Rooney insists that United intend to keep chipping away at the Blues´ lead, starting with the visit of Portsmouth this Saturday.
" It´s definitely not over," says a defiant Rooney. " We´re nine points behind, but Chelsea have got a few tough games coming up - they´ve still to play us at home and then Arsenal."
Rooney is United´s top scorer this season with 13 - well on the way to his personal target of 20. And with the return Ruud van Nistelrooy, who has 12 goals this term, Alan Smith and Louis Saha, United are approaching full strength.
" You never know; if Chelsea lose a game before they come to Old Trafford they could really start to fell the pressure," Rooney said in an interview with United Review.
" Hopefully we can keep the wins going," he added. " You never know, we could be there at the end of the season to take the title."
The availability of van Nistelrooy is a welcome boost to United, not least for Rooney, who, like his manager, rates the Dutchman as the club´s most clinical finisher ever.
" He´s the best, most clinical finisher we´ve ever seen here," Rooney says of his strike partner.
Four contact Essien´s agent
Four of Europe´s biggest clubs have contacted Michael Essien´s agent according to the man himself Fabien Piveteau.
The versatile midfielder is very highly regarded and enhanced his growing reputation in a defensive role when helping Lyon triumph 3-0 against Werder Bremen in the UEFA Champions League in midweek.
After impressing against Manchester United in the group stages of the competition, The Red Devils are one of the clubs trailing the Ghanaian.
Sir Alex Ferguson is believed to be pondering options for a long-term replacement for skipper Roy Keane after the signing of Eric Djemba-Djemba failed to work out, with the Cameroon international departing for Aston Villa after failing to make the grade at Old Trafford.
Arsenal, Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona will compete for Essien´s signature should Lyon decide to cash in on his talents in the summer.
" I know Juventus are attracted to him," Piveteau told L´Equipe.
" However, I haven´t had direct contact. But that is the case with people from Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Arsenal."
Juventus vice-chairman Roberto Bettega was apparently in the Monaco stands last Friday to see the defensive midfielder compete in the crunch League One fixture.

German signs at Old Trafford
Ron-Robert Zieler has been paraded by Manchester United after completing his move from Cologne.
The young keeper agreed a three-year contract with The Red Devils in August as earlier reported and will bid to make a name for himself at Old Trafford.
" It is a great feeling," said Zieler recently. " Something entirely special.
" The chance to play at such a world-class club comes along very rarely.
" I have already been very impressed. I saw many pros like striker Ruud van Nistelrooy and also coach Alex Ferguson.
" I will be in good hands. I have the ambition, the discipline and, in addition, the will.
" Money played no role in my decision. I only want to play football."
United scouts have informed the German media that they rate the 16-year-old as the best keeper of his age group in Europe.
Zieler will have a pal from his homeland at United in the shape of young midfielder Markus Neumayr.
>> Notre prochain numero 1. ^^
Band-aid for Keane
Roy Keane´s sarcastic call for anti-diving wristbands to be introduced in the Premiership has been heeded. Someone has manufactured some red wristbands with ´NO TO DIVING´ emblazoned on them. The bands were put up for sale on internet site ebay yesterday.

Reds Sign Young German Stopper
Manchester United have completed the signing of 16-year-old goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler from FC Cologne.
Zieler arrived at Carrington on Friday afternoon with his parents to sign scholarship forms with the Reds.
Les Kershaw is Academy Director at Manchester United, and he explained to this website the process for bringing Zieler to the club.
" We have a scout based in Germany called Peter Braund," explains Kershaw. " Peter watched him play and recommended the boy to the club.
" He was then watched by our goalkeeping coaches and FC Cologne allowed him to come here for a period of assessment.
" We liked what we saw," Kershaw told ManUtd.com. " He will join us this summer, on 1 July. It´s a scholarship scheme - the scheme offered to all 16-year-old boys who come to the club."
The signing of the highly-rated teenager from Bundesliga club FC Cologne is further evidence of the United´s policy of throwing the net further afield to attract young talent.
The Reds made the summer capture of 18-year-olds Gerard Pique and Giuseppe Rossi from Barcelona and Parma respectively.

Ruud Will Start Against Pompey - Fergie
Ruud van Nistelrooy will be handed his first start in three months when United take on Portsmouth at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The Reds return to Premiership duty against the south coast side and, with Chelsea involved in the Carling Cup final against Liverpool, will be looking to reduce their lead at the top of the league to just six points.
Van Nistelrooy came on as a substitute against Milan in the 1-0 midweek defeat and Sir Alex Ferguson is planning to give the Dutchman as much football as possible in readiness for the return leg of United´s Champions League last 16 tie.
" He´ll play in our next two matches against Portsmouth and Crystal Palace," Ferguson told us. " He will be much better prepared to face Milan at the San Siro."
Before turning his attentions to the Premiership clash with Portsmouth on Saturday tea-time, Sir Alex reflected on the midweek defeat to Milan.
" It´s always disappointing when you lose a game and it´s certainly made our task harder," admits the Boss. " But I think the players feel and know they can do better in Milan.
" I think Milan felt that this was their best chance to get a result against us - at our own ground. If it had ended 0-0 I´d have fancied us very strongly. But we´ve got to find a goal and I think we´re more than capable of doing that.
" Ruud van Nistelrooy could score against anybody in the world and he´s without doubt the best predator I´ve ever known. So we´ve got that potential of Ruud´s goals plus I think we´ll be much more relaxed over there.
" You could maybe say we didn´t have the luck we needed against Milan on Wednesday - Quinton Fortune had a great chance but he just stumbled at the last minute and the ball just floated past the post by a few inches.
" The players won´t be affected by the defeat and they´ll look forward to the game in Milan. It´ll be a tough game for them but the atmosphere will be fantastic and in a way the pressure´s on Milan. We played enough good penetrating football to suggest that we are capable of getting a result and Milan will know that as well."
Though the emphasis has been on United´s European campaign, the chance to make headway in the Premiership must be grasped.
Chelsea´s next league fixture is a 17:15 GMT kick off against Norwich next Saturday, while United play Crystal Palace earlier that day. Ferguson´s side could move three points behind the leaders should they defeat Pompey this Saturday and Palace next weekend, and the Boss says his players are determined to close the gap.
" It´s certainly a big weekend for us and the incentive of going six points behind Chelsea is there for everyone and all my players are aware of that," insists Sir Alex.
" If you look at the facts I think everyone would probably agree - even Chelsea would probably agree - that they´re not playing as well as they were four or five weeks ago.
" The difficult thing is every time you mention your opponents it´s put down as psychological warfare and mind games and all that nonsense," adds the Boss. " But you never know what could happen.
" They´ve lost two important players [Bridge and Robben] through injury who won´t be available for them and if they lose a league game they haven´t got any real form to fall back on. We´ll just have to wait and see if they lose that league game which will let ourselves and Arsenal back in."
