Shevchenko ruled out of United tie

AC Milan striker Andriy Shevchenko will miss next Wednesday´s UEFA Champions League tie with Manchester United FC after fracturing a cheekbone and eye socket during his side´s 1-0 win over Cagliari Calcio on Saturday.

Clash of heads
The European Footballer of the Year was forced to leave the pitch in the eleventh minute of the match at the Giuseppe Meazza after clashing heads with a Cagliari defender.

Surgery on Monday
A statement on Milan´s website on Saturday said Shevchenko would have an operation on Monday and was expected to recover within ten to 12 days, ruling him out of the first knockout round, first-leg tie against United at Old Trafford. The injury also makes him extremely doubtful for next weekend´s city derby with FC Internazionale Milano.

Serginho winner
Milan went top of Serie A with their victory over Cagliari, substitute Serginho scoring the only goal of the game in second-half injury-time. Milan are now top on goal difference after Juventus FC could only draw with FC Messina Peloro earlier in the evening. Inter remain third, eleven points behind their Milan rivals, after drawing 1-1 at fourth-placed Udinese Calcio.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has admitted he has made an approach for Spanish winger Joaquin and he may push for a deal in the summer.

Real Betis star Joaquin has attracted widespread interest and would reportedly cost around £20m.

Mourinho contacted Betis earlier in the season and although nothing has so far come of it he is considering trying again at the end of the season.

Mourinho said in the News of the World: " We did not have him signed, nor did I say not to sign him. Joaquin is a very good player and I admit there was contact.

" We asked and the other party replied. Nothing has been discarded with regard to him. We could try and sign him in June or December."

Foot - C1 : Shevchenko manquera MU

Andreï Shevchenko est forfait pour le huitième de finale aller de la Ligue des champions à Manchester, mercredi. Touché au visage à la 9e minute de Milan AC - Caliari ( 1-0), dans un choc avec un défenseur sarde, le Ballon d´Or 2004, saignant du nez, a été soigné sur le bord de la touche et a demandé lui-même à sortir quatre minutes plus tard, remplacé par l´Argentin Hernan Crespo.

Selon l´agence de presse italienne ANSA, Shevchenko, emmené dans un hôpital proche du stade pour un contrôle de routine, devrait subir une opération après quelques jours de repos. Il devrait être absent des terrains entre vingt et trente jours, toujours selon la même source. Shevchenko, 28 ans, va aussi manquer le derby milanais face à l´Inter en Championnat, dimanche prochain, et devra mettre les bouchées doubles pour être opérationnel le 8 mars à San Siro pour le huitième de finale retour.

1-0 pour newcastle contre chelsea.il reste environ 1/4 d´heure.

Chelsea a perdu 1-0 contre newcastle, deplus wayne bridge sest blesser et damien duff aussi.

pas cool pourchelsea . .

duff , robben bridge . Tout le coté gauche est démuni . .

si personne ne passe d´aucun coté a milan MU ca va étre chiant comme match . .

mais je continue a penser qu´on a pas grand chose a envier au milan surout sans sheva ! !

Je pense que Man Utd a tres bien fait ces dernieres annee contre les clubs italiens.Je pense quon peut gagner a old trafford et se maintenir a un match nul au san siro.

C´est le genre de matchs que Cristiano Ronaldo joue générélament très bien, et pareil pour Rooney...

manchester c le meilleure club du monde pour moi il ont les meilleurs joueurs et je pense qu il peuvent revenir sur chelsea

Pas de quadruplé pour Chelsea, il ne batteront notre record cette année...

La paire Robben-Joaquin serait sympa pour chelsea mais quand on voit les perf de Giggs et Ronaldo, on aurait rien à lui envier mis à part sa jeunesse.

Sinon j´ai vu que miller n´avait pas joué dans l´axe contre everton, il a joué milieu droit.
Je me demande si Fergie le considère comme un milieu defensif.
