Foot - ALL : Hildebrand va quitter Stuttgart

Le gardien de but de Stuttgart, Timo Hildebrand, ne prolongera pas son contrat qui se termine à la fin de cette saison. «Nous regrettons cette décision, mais respectons également le fait que Timo ait refusé notre offre» a déclaré le président de Stuttgart, Erwin Staudt. Le club lui avait proposé de faire passer son salaire actuel de 500 000 euros à 1,8 million d´euros par an jusqu´en 2010, soit l´un des plus hauts traitements du club.

«Nous sommes quand même déçus et même un peu amers», a confié M. Staudt au quotidien " Tagesspiegel" à paraître mercredi. «Nous avons tout donné et montré de la compréhension, mais il y a un moment où l´on remarque que l´autre partie ne veut pas. De telles situations font partie du football, Timo est assez " pro" pour pouvoir prendre une décision», a commenté quant à lui Matthias Sammer, l´entraîneur du club.

Fergie confirms Kleb interest

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed clubs are interested in Kleberson, but no bid has been tabled for the Manchester United midfielder.

The Brazil international has failed to shine following his big-money move from Atletico Paranaense and struggled to hold down regular football.

Benfica confirmed their interest in the Samba star at the weekend and Ferguson has stated there have been enquiries for the 25-year-old.

However, with Kleberson currently out of action on the sidelines, no bid has been tabled for the out of favour star.

" We have had quite a few inquiries in the last few weeks but no concrete offer," said Ferguson.

Defence Deserve Full Credit

Seven clean sheets in a row is a fantastic record and I’m delighted for the team. We know we haven’t scored as many goals this season as we have done in past campaigns, but everything starts from the back.

If you can get your defence right, you only need your forwards to grab a goal for you and you’ve won the game. United do have a history of playing lovely attacking football, but in the past we’ve sometimes had problems at the back as well.

Now we solved those problems and even when the likes of Rio Ferdinand and Gary Neville have been out of the team, the lads who have come in have responded really well and we’ve managed to maintain our good form at the back. It hasn’t really mattered whether Roy Carroll or Tim Howard have played in goal either, because neither have had a lot of work to do!

Rio Ferdinand: Composure Personified

Rio has been absolute class. He’s made a real difference since he’s come back into the team and we’ve looked very solid with him at the heart of the defence. He’s certainly future captain material when Roy Keane eventually decides to call it a day. But given his performance at Liverpool, I think he’s still got a few years left in him yet – he was magnificent. Nevertheless, Rio has been just as influential in the defence and has brought a real calmness to the back four.

Mikael Silvestre: Maturing With Every Game

You must give a lot of credit to Mikael. The recent performances by the defence as a whole have certainly rubbed off on him and he’s been excellent over the last few weeks. He´s obviously enjoying playing alongside Rio, and even though the odd little error still creeps in now and again, his game’s improving all the time and he’s really starting to mature now. I´ve been very impressed with his all-round performance at the back and he´s definitely looking very solid at the moment.

Wes Brown: Continuing To Improve

After all his injuries I was a bit worried about how Wes would be on the turn and whether or not he’d have lost a yard of pace. But he’s looked great so far and I’m sure he’ll get even better in the coming weeks as he builds up his fitness. He´ll get quicker on the turn and will learn to get closer to his man a bit earlier. Overall, he´s doing brilliantly at the moment.

John O’Shea: Getting Back To His Best

I’m very pleased to see John O’Shea doing so well because he was having a bit of a bad time after making such a great start to his United career when he first broke into the team. But he’s come through that period and has been very solid in recent weeks. I think a lot of us thought that playing in different positions would help to make him a more versatile player, but it seems that playing in just one place, namely centre-back, will help John a lot more.

Gary Neville: Never Gives Up

Both of the Nevilles are part of the history of Manchester United and what this club are all about – one for all and all for one. Gary´s always been such a consistent performer for us at right-back and his will to win is one of his best assets. I’ll never forget him sprinting across the pitch in the last minute of the European Cup final in ´99 to take a throw-in, which eventually earned us the corner from which we scored the equaliser. Things like that stick in my mind; that will to say we’ll never give up – that’s the United way.

Phil Neville: Willing To Give Everything

Phil is another one who’s done very well when he’s come into the side this season. Although he’s been left out on a few occasions, he’s a bit like Alan Smith in the way he always gives everything for the team. He doesn’t always get it right but when he does he’s magnificent. I think a lot of United fans appreciate what he brings to the team in terms of commitment. I’m a big fan of Phil’s because he always shows that great Manchester United desire.

Gabriel Heinze: The Tough Tackler

Heinze’s been an absolute gem and every United fan you talk to has been impressed with him. One or two journalists have criticised him for his tough tackling, but I think his tackles have been brilliant, particularly the timing of them. You’ve got to have tackling in the game otherwise we might as well as play netball! He’s adapted very well to the English game and I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how good he really is - he’s been absolutely magnificent so far this season.

La police a décidé d’intervenir en sommant les deux hommes d’arrêter. De toute façon ça sert à rien de disserter sur les relations Fergie-Wenger, ils ne s´aiment pas et le match Arsenal-MU est pour bientot alors les problemes refont surface dans les journaux.

C´est étrange parce que lorsqu´il y a des réunions à la FA, les deux hommes s´entendent bien, mangent ensemble, etc . . .

Manchester United jouera un match amical à Pékin le 26 juillet prochain contre l´équipe locale, Hyundai Pékin, dans le cadre de sa tournée en Asie.

Manchester, dont les tournées estivales en Asie sont devenues habituelles car lucratives au niveau du marketing, jouera à Pékin pour la première fois de son histoire.

«Nous irons avec la totalité de l´effectif», a promis Andy Anson, directeur commercial de Manchester United, en précisant que l´attaquant chinois de MU Dong Fangzhou, actuellement prêté à Anvers, serait probablement de la tournée.

Manchester a déjà à son agenda un match amical à Hong Kong contre l´équipe nationale le 23 juillet pour le 90e anniversaire de la Fédération nationale de Hong Kong.

HEINZE: NO REGRETS

Gabriel Heinze admits he incurred the wrath of Sir Alex Ferguson last summer, but feels it has proved a risk worth taking.

The 26-year-old moved to Old Trafford in a £6 million deal from Paris Saint Germain, but infuriated his new employers by choosing to represent Argentina at the Olympics.

However, he has subsequently made the left-back spot at United his own with a series of impressive displays, perhaps the most eye-catching to date his showing in the 1-0 win at Anfield last weekend.

Now established as a firm fans´ favourite, he insists he has no regrets over his decision to pick club over country.

Benfica issue Kleb ultimatum

Benfica boss Giovanni Trapattoni has admitted that Manchester United´s financial demands are blocking a move for Kleberson, and will end their interest if a deal is not struck within the next week.

The Portuguese giants are keen to take the Brazilian misfit to Estadio da Luz, but are still deciding whether to press ahead with a move after initial talks United.

Kleberson has failed to have the expected impact since his £7 million move from Atletico Paranaense, but the Premiership giants still expect to recoup the majority of that fee if he is to move on.

Benfica want to take the midfielder on an initial loan deal with a view to a permanent switch at the end of the season, but Trapattoni admits an agreement is still some way from being struck despite the player being keen on the move.

" I want Kleberson, but not for the money that Manchester United desire," the Italian stated.

" It is not an easy matter."

Indeed, ´Trap´ claims that if the two sides can not agree on a deal inside the next week, the Lisbon giants will call off their chase completely.

" If the operation is not been closed by this day ( January 26) then the door will be shut completely."

Sir Alex Ferguson has made inquiries about AC Milan keeper Christian Abbiati in a move that is sure to rile Arsene Wenger. Abbiati, 27, is Wenger´s No.1 target and the Arsenal boss sent chief scout Steve Rowley to watch him play in an Italian Cup tie against Palermo last week. But Ferguson is now closing in on the keeper after Edwin van der Sar signed a new deal at Fulham and Middlesbrough´s Mark Schwarzer agreed a three-year extension to his current contract. United have asked whether AC would be willing to release their second-choice keeper and have been told he can leave once they find a replacement.
