Wayne Rooney is likely to return to the Manchester United line-up after a three-game ban, with John O´Shea and Quinton Fortune returning after injury.

Louis Saha should be on the bench but Gary Neville is not yet fit to return.

En tout cas ça fait plaisir de voir que pas mal de joueurs ne sont plus blessés, reste à récupérer Ruud et ce sera bon puisque Giggs sera absent moins longtemps que prévu.

Et Kleberson, il fait quoi lui parce que ça aurait été un match pour lui contre chelsea.

Fait partie des joueurs laissés au repos, si on peut appeller ça comme ça...Je pense que Sir Alex et surtout Queiroz ont une bonne opinion de lui mais il peine à s´imposer physiquement, et il est surtout victime de l´énorme retour en forme de Scholes...avec Keano pas mauvais aussi.

Il partira sans doute en juin mais c´est un bon joueur, il manque pas grand chose pour qu´il s´impose.

Forlan par exemple fait une belle saison à Villareal, 9 buts en 18 matchs et un doublé encore ce w-e. Je pense que Kleberson pourrait briller s´il trouvait un club avec moins de concurrence...

Selon certains médias italiens, le club d’Arsenal aurait proposé 22 millions d’euros à l’Olympique Lyonnais pour s’attacher les services du milieu de terrain Michael Essien. Une annonce qui pourrait-elle faire changer d’avis le président de l’OL, Jean-Michel Aulas, qui avait affirmé samedi qu’aucun Lyonnais, hormis Elber, ne quitterait les gones cet hiver ? Manchester tient le choc à Chelsea
La deuxième demi-finale de la Coupe de la Ligue anglaise n´a pas offert de vainqueur lors de la manche aller ( 0-0).

On attendait beaucoup de la rencontre entre Chelsea, le leader de la Premier League, et Manchester United. Après les déclarations houleuses des deux entraîneurs en début de semaine, la rencontre promettait d´être tendue. Mais ce match aller n´a pas délivré de vainqueur ( 0-0). Il faudra donc faire la décision lors de la manche retour à Old Trafford.

Giggs to return against Liverpool

Ryan Giggs is set to return to Manchester United´s line-up for Saturday´s Premiership tie against Liverpool at Anfield.
The 31-year-old suffered a hamstring strain during United´s goalless draw with Tottenham nine days ago.

But Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson believes Giggs will recover from the injury in time to face Liverpool.

" Ryan has a chance for Saturday," said Ferguson. " He trained on Wednesday and I expect him to be fit."

Ferguson was equally optimistic about key defender Rio Ferdinand, who is also expected to return after missing the last two games.

Fergie praise for Saha

Sir Alex Ferguson felt the return of Louis Saha was the plus point for Manchester United in their goalless draw against Chelsea.

The Red Devils ensured a home win at Old Trafford for United sees them in the Carling Cup final with a hard-fought draw at Stamford Bridge.

Fergie had Wayne Rooney back after suspension, but felt Saha was the threat for the visitors in West London.

" The great thing from my point of view was I got Louis Saha back. He´s got two great feet," said Ferguson to Sky Sports.

" I´m very pleased at that. Some of them needed a game, Saha, [Quinton] Fortune and [John] O´Shea.

" At the end of the day we´ve coped well. There were one of two moments where we had to defend well.

" I thought the referee gave Chelsea an awful lot in the first half. I´m glad we didn´t lose a goal."

The return leg in Manchester is sure to be a sell out and Ferguson feels that there is everything to play for.

" There will be a great atmosphere. The tie could go either way. There are a lot of great players on both sides," he added.

Key duo Ryan Giggs and Rio Ferdinand did not play against Chelsea, however, the pair are expected to feature against Liverpool on Saturday.

" They [Giggs and Ferdinand] will be fit," he concluded.

This is a big, big game in it´s own right - but Saturday lunchtime takes on more signifance than usual, thanks to Fernando Morientes.

It looks like he will make his Liverpool debut and that can only add to what promises to be one of the highlights of the Premier League calender.

I do think that Morientes is a great buy for Rafael Benitez. Liverpool were in desperate need of reinforcements up front and to get a quality player like him for around £6million looks like it could be a good bit of business.

Morientes has done it all at every level. He has won the Champions League three times, has always scored for Spain and last season he showed what sort of striker he is with Monaco.

He should provide the perfect foil for Milan Baros and certainly has the calibre to solve the goalscoring problems that is one of the things holding Liverpool back right now.

The other is their defence - I just don´t think they are good enough at the back. It is just a question of quality and it was no surprise to see them bring in Mauricio Pellegrino during the window. But until he is match fit, I do worry about Liverpool in that department.

Of course, there is nothing whatsoever wrong with Steven Gerrard at the moment, and the midfield battle could well be central to who ends up with the three points they need.

I expect to see Roy Keane and Paul Scholes back in their for United and up against Gerrard in what promises to be a real blockbuster of a battle in the middle of the park.

And I expect United to come out all guns blazing, with the best side Sir Alex Ferguson has at his disposal.

You never write Manchester United off, but it is going to take a monumental turnaround if they are going to win the title and the one thing I do know is that they have to win every game if they are going to close the 11-point gap on Chelsea.

But then again, the FA Cup and the Carling Cup semi-final second leg are not far away and I wouldn´t like to try and second guess Sir Alex Ferguson.

I would expect to see Wayne Rooney playing in that deeper role again behind Louis Saha or Alan Smith and if fit, Rio Ferdinand has to come back to a defence that has stopped conceding goals.

I just wonder if Ferguson will stick with some of the players that did so well against Chelsea in the week. If he does, it will tell us he has given up on the league and is focussing his efforts elsewhere - and I just can´t see that happening.

And after all, there is nothing more United fans like that beating Liverpool, with our without Morientes.

But I just get the feeling, with the lift their new signing will give them, with Gerrard firing on all cylinders and with things slowly taking shape at Anfield, Fergie might well be left looking elsewhere for silverware come the final whistle.
