Ruud´s out for 10 weeks
Alex Ferguson will be without Ruud van Nistelrooy for another 10 WEEKS. The Manchester United boss hoped his star striker could be fit by late January. But the Dutchman’s nagging calf injury has now moved to his Achilles. He has no chance of playing again until the end of February at the earliest. And Fergie fears Van Nistelrooy, 28, may even require an operation if the problem still fails to respond to treatment. Now he must sit out another 10 Premiership games, including the Highbury showdown with Arsenal on February 12, PLUS United’s Champions League first-leg clash with AC Milan on February 23. Ferguson admitted last night: “We are giving him the right rehabilitation but Ruud’s injury is a difficult one to assess.”

Shut your north and south
Jose Mourinho has hit back at Alex Ferguson’s claim that Chelsea will blow the title up north by insisting: “You’re not so good in the south.” Manchester United boss Fergie says Chelsea’s five-point lead at the top could disappear when the Londoners travel north in the New Year. But Blues chief Mourinho said: “What is certain is that Manchester United lost points in the south against Chelsea, Portsmouth and Fulham. They have a problem in the south. We will have to wait and see whether we have a problem up north. But I’m looking forward to those trips."

Roy´s the titanic
Alex Ferguson backs Roy Keane’s belief that he can stay a Premiership force into his mid-30s. Skipper Keane, 33, has revealed he intends to play on at Manchester United beyond his contract — provided his form holds. Fergie said: “I am not at all surprised by Roy’s comments given the way he is playing right now. The fact is he is in fantastic form — the best he has hit all season. He has come to the forefront of his game and, if I were him, I would want to stay and carry on playing too.”

Fergie plans to dish up a hiding
Sir Alex Ferguson has warned Manchester United´s Christmas opposition they are in line for a pasting. The Old Trafford boss believes his side are hitting top form at the right time ahead of the festive campaign. " Somebody will take a hiding from us soon, maybe two or three teams will take a hiding because I can see that our form is really coming good," he said. " I´m very pleased with the way we are creating so many chances all the time. If we had really put our foot down against Palace we could have scored even more than five. We could do that against some of our opponents now. The team is more settled now with Rio Ferdinand back in there and the back four is looking stronger all the time. I´m happy about that. We don´t have any fears about facing anyone, we know we are capable of beating any team. The rest can´t all say that."

Spector sera prêté à Blackburn
Date: 24 Dec 2004
Utd order starlet to Sporting
Manchester United have instructed Sao Paulo to release Brazilian starlet Rincon a year early - so he can join Sporting Lisbon next season.
The young defender has progressed better than expected over the past 12 months and is now the captain of Brazil´s Under-17 side.
United signed Rincon, full name Carlos Eduardo Castro Lourenco, in 2003 and immediately agreed to loan him back for two years - before a move to Sporting.
The deal was struck as United brokered their partnership with Sao Paulo - similar to the one they already have with a host of clubs around the world including Sporting and Royal Antwerp.
United are now cancelling the last year of Rincon´s stay at Sao Paulo, so he can begin next season at the Jose Alvalade.
Sporting have already been informed and they are understood to be more than happy to have a player who is now emerging as a real talent.
The 17-year-old was due to stay at Sporting for two years from 2006 - but now it looks as if he could have an extended stay in Portugal.
Rincon is contracted to United until 2010, after signing a five-year deal with an option for another two and the English giants hope he will be ready for Old Trafford after his stint at Sporting - which should finish in 2008.
United´s Academy chief Les Kershaw confirmed that they had moved to get Rincon to Sporting early.
" It is best to give him the push in his career," Kershaw told Portuguese paper Record.
Kershaw revealed that the deal set up by United could be the first of many deals.
" He is the first of many young Brazilians who can be moved in this new partnership between the three clubs."
Meanwhile, young American striker Kenny Cooper is heading back to Old Trafford after an ill-fated loan move to Portuguese outfit Academica.
United are reportedly annoyed at the lack of first team action Cooper has been seeing.
C´est bien pour Rincon et Spector...

Angleterre: Mourinho s´attend à perdre des points Le 24/12/2004 - 15:40
