United Keeping Tabs on Vanden Borre
Manchester United are reportedly keeping a close eye on Anderlecht´s teenage sensation Anthony Vanden Borre, who has been touted as the biggest young prospects in Belgium.
The versatile midfielder and defender, just a tender 17 years of age, has been handed major responsibilities over the past few months, winning his first senior cap for his country and representing his current club, Anderlecht, in the Champions League.
Youngster Vanden Borre has also made appearances for his national side at U16 and U21 level.
United scouts are reportedly in Belgium tonight to watch Vanden Borre play against Claudio Ranieri´s Valencia side in their Champions League Group G clash.
Borre, normally a centre-half, can slot in at right-back as well as central midfield and on the right hand side of midfield.
J´avais deja entendu parler de lui, mais je savais pas qu´on le suivait...
Carroll vows to keep place
--------------------------------------------------
------------------------------
Manchester United goalkeeper Roy Carroll has vowed to keep hold of the number one shirt despite his blunder in midweek.
The Northern Ireland international was at fault for Lyon´s goal in the 2-1 victory on Tuesday night as he let Mahamadou Diarra´s long-range shot somehow bounce off his body and into the net.
The mistake has raised doubts over Carroll´s place in Sir Alex Ferguson´s side with Tim Howard having paid the price earlier this season after a number of errors.
Carroll admits he should have saved the shot, but he is confident that the mistake will not affect him.
" It came straight at me and I tried to get down on it and I know I should have done better," vowed Carroll.
" It was an error but I just have to forget about it and get on with the game. Goalkeepers make mistakes but you just have to get on with your job.
" You can´t be worrying about your place in the team when there are 50 minutes to go in a match."
Carroll´s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain as he rejected the club´s offer of a new deal, and the former Wigan shot-stopper is remaining coy on the subject.
" I don´t want to talk about my contract," added Carroll.
West Brom boss to press Man Utd for Spector
November 25, 2004
West Brom boss Bryan Robson is expected to take advantage of the visit of Manchester United this weekend to enquire after defender Jonathan Spector.
Robson wants to take the USA international on-loan in January for the second-half of the season and will discuss the youngster with United boss Sir Alex Ferguson after Saturday´s match.
Ca peut être une bonne idée pour Spector, le prêter pour qu´il joue un peu pendant 6 mois et en fin de saison l´intégrer définitivement au groupe...
Man Utd´s Djordjic: Rangers deal would be fantastic - November 25, 2004
Manchester United midfielder Bojan Djordjic has confirmed he is desperate to land a deal with Rangers.
The Swede is trialling at Ibrox and said: " I would love to win a contract at Rangers.
" I don´t really have a future in Manchester, but to have the chance of moving to Rangers would be fantastic.
" I hope I can show them what kind of player I am as I am aware of how big this club is."
Gers boss Alex McLeish added: " We have known about Djordjic for a while.
" He has moved around a bit in recent seasons and was on loan to Red Star Belgrade last season.
" He has a decent pedigree and is still a young man. We have been a bit short on the left side."

Fergie Eyes Title Push
--------------------------------------------------
------------------------------
Sir Alex Ferguson is asking his players to use the next five weeks to lay the foundations for a New Year title push.
United play six league matches between now and the turn of the year, and Ferguson wants his side heaping pressure on title rivals Chelsea and Arsenal.
Both teams dropped points last weekend as United garnered a comfortable victory over Charlton, giving Fergie’s side further impetus to close the gap at the top.
" Both Arsenal and Chelsea conceding goals in the last ten minutes was a bonus,” said Sir Alex of last weekend’s Premiership matches. “Dropping the points is a big boost to us.
" We’re still nine points behind Chelsea and seven points behind Arsenal, so there is still a bit to go. But what we are trying to do at the moment is get a consistent run of victories,” Ferguson told Manchester United Radio.
Four of United’s next six opponents in the Premiership – West Brom, Southampton, Fulham and Crystal Palace - are in the bottom half of the division.
" It is absolutely imperative that we win our matches against the teams in the bottom half of the league,” said Ferguson. “If we win these matches, by the time the New Year comes around we will hopefully be much, much closer.”
Chelsea Arsenal
Charlton ( a) 27 Nov Liverpool ( a) 28 Nov
Newcastle ( h) 4 Dec Birmingham ( h) 4 Dec
Arsenal ( a) 12 Dec Chelsea ( h) 12 Dec
Norwich ( a) 18 Dec Portsmouth ( a) 19 Dec
Aston Villa ( h) 26 Dec Fulham ( h) 26 Dec
Portsmouth ( a) 28 Dec Newcastle ( a) 29 Dec
Beating West Brom on Saturday would take United’s points total to 27 having played fifteen matches – just two points short of where the Reds were at the same point in the November of the Treble season.
Ferguson is looking for a run of results similar to those his side achieved to see out the year 2002. Having lost 3-1 to Manchester City in the last Derby at Maine Road in November, a galvanised United won 10 of their next 12 matches.
" You certainly get an idea of how the league is shaping up going into January. The teams in the bottom don’t normally pick up a lot of points.
" In my experience as manager, one of the top three or four teams is certainly going to take the title.
Arsenal and Chelsea still have to play each other – on 12 December – giving United the opportunity to further close the gap on at least one of their championship adversaries.
Arsene Wenger´s side face a difficult trip to Anfield this weekend, while both Chelsea and the Gunners play Graeme Souness´ Newcastle in December.
