Selon la BBC, l´attaquant international néerlandais de Manchester United, Ruud van Nistelrooy a plaidé coupable mardi devant la Fédération anglaise pour une faute lors du match contre Arsenal dimanche dernier ( 2-0).

Van Nistelrooy avait eu un mauvais geste à l´encontre du Londonien Ashley Cole qui n´a pas été sanctionné par l´arbitre M. Riley. L´attaquant risque pour cela une suspension de trois matches.

There was a block on Thierry Henry in the second half that made you immediately think ‘World Class’.

Gary Neville is also capable of succeeding Roy Keane as captain at Manchester United but, in Rio Ferdinand, I think we are seeing a future United captain of many years to come.

He proved himself with an exceptional performance against top quality players – to nullify Henry, who is widely considered one of the best in the business only proves his pedigree.

He only really let Henry past once – quite early on in the game – when Roy Carroll came off his line to produce a fine save. But other than that, Ferdinand had him under control.

The victory will hopefully inspire confidence among the players. They perhaps needed this shot in arm. Arsenal have been the best in the league in recent months – United have beaten them. That can only instil confidence.

I was disappointed with Arsene Wenger’s comments after the game. The things he said about van Nistelrooy were quite outrageous. For such a great manager, I would hope he would feel slightly embarrassed when he looks back on his post-match interviews.

Referees get criticised for everything they do. If they’re too lenient they get stick, and if they dish out the cards they’re given flak for being too heavy-handed. Mike Riley handled the game pretty well. It was a high-tension game and he came through it well.

On first viewing I really thought Wayne Rooney had been fouled for the penalty. I’ve watched the replays since and it is certainly a dubious one, but the referee doesn’t have the luxury of replays.

I don’t see what Arsene Wenger can complain about, however. Ashley Cole’s trip on Ronaldo was a clear penalty. So while they were perhaps slightly unfortunate to concede one penalty, they were extremely lucky not to give away another.

Reyes worries me slightly. He’s a terrifically talented player, there is no question of that. But either Arsenal have the most magical of magic sponges, or his limbs are incapable of bearing the physical brunt of playing Premiership football.

The fans all through the game were quite magnificent. They were happy with the way we closed Arsenal down. Our work-rate was phenomenal and it was exactly what we needed.

Alan Smith is fast becoming a hero at Old Trafford. He was magnificent when he came on – that tackle on Henry after just coming on was superb. That can really get the crowd going – perhaps even as much as the trickery of Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney.

United keeper search continues

Manchester United´s search for a new goalkeeper has continued - with Rennes´ Andreas Isaksson, Sebastien Frey and Carlos Kameni all attracting interest.

Tim Howard´s slide from grace has seen Roy Carroll take over in the United first team, and the Northern Ireland international impressed in Sunday´s win over Arsenal.

However, it appears that Sir Alex Ferguson, who once described Carroll as the perfect substitute keeper, is keen to bring in another custodian.

Frey has been linked with The Red Devils for some time and commented at the weekend that he knew of United´s interest.

However, United are also taking a close look at Espanyol´s Kameni - with goalkeeper coach Tony Coton in attendance for the Catalan derby against Barcelona.

Cameroon international Kameni has insisted that he would prefer to stay in the Spanish league, where he has quickly won rave reviews.

Finally, Sweden international Isaksson who only moved to the French league in the summer, is flattered to be linked with United.

The Rennes star told Sportbladet that he would not pass up the chance to move to one of the biggest clubs in the world.

" When you get a chance like that you have got to take it," admitted Isaksson.

" It would not be wrong to play there but right at the moment it is Rennes that matters.

" I am happy at Rennes. It is hard to find a club with this degree of faith in you.

" I am pleased with my displays so far and have developed a lot."
