Bye-Bye Bullies
For years they were the bullies of the Premiership playground but now Manchester United are finding that the little guys can fight back. No longer can Sir Alex Ferguson´s side rule with an iron fist on the back of a reputation menacing enough to scare teams into submission. There is a growing feeling in the top flight that United are there for the taking if a team is ready to scrap for all they are worth for 90 minutes. Birmingham were the latest side to try their luck and although they were unable to clinch the ultimate prize of all three points, their spirit and tenacity had Ferguson´s men worried.

46 Points - Arsenal On Course For United Rout
Arsenal are on course to finish an astonishing 46 points ahead of Manchester United. A win at Old Trafford on Sunday would extend their unbeaten run to 50 matches and give them a 14-point advantage over the Old Trafford side. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson admits his team are falling below the standards he expects - and the league table shows they must quickly improve to have any chance of overhauling the Gunners. Arsenal are collecting 1.2 points a match more than United. Repeated over the 38-game Premiership season that would give the Londoners a total of 105 points and Fergie´s men just 59.

Gunners Told To Cool It
Arsene Wenger will warn his Arsenal stars to stay cool and ignore Alex Ferguson´s taunts in the run-up to the explosive showdown at Manchester United. The move comes as the war of words between the clubs threatens to spiral out of control. Fergie lit the fuse for Sunday’s crunch with an amazing attack on Wenger, claiming Arsenal were a ´mob´ who ‘got away with murder’ in last make it 50 Premiership matches unbeaten. A Highbury insider said: " If anything, passions will run even higher next Sunday. Arsene Wenger does not want the players to rise to United’s bait and will make it clear they must keep their cool."

Fifa checking on Mutu case
Fifa will ensure the FA impose a minimum six-month ban on Adrian Mutu should claims that he has tested positive for cocaine be proven.
The Romanian international, whose future at Chelsea was already uncertain after a bust-up with manager Jose Mourinho, returned to London on Monday to await the result of a B sample.
It is understood that the substance was not performance enhancing but linked to social drug use, and there have been claims that the substance involved was cocaine.
If, as is almost certain, the B sample confirms the positive finding then the FA will hold a disciplinary hearing.
In those circumstances the organisation would have to impose a suspension of between six months and two years as well as a fine - if they were any more lenient the FA themselves could be fined by Fifa for contravening their guidelines.
A Fifa source said: " We are taking the fight against doping very seriously and the minimum suspension of six months and a fine is made clear in Fifa´s disciplinary code.
" We fined three associations - in France, Italy and the Netherlands - earlier this month for failing to adhere to those basic stipulations.
" Should any other national association not follow those stipulations they will almost certainly be fined too."

Sparta Prague : Poborsky absent face à Manchester Utd ?
19 octobre 2004 - 08 h 31 -
Fergie admits mistakes
Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted his tinkering with the team has cost Manchester United points this season.
A number of setbacks have prevented the Scot from selecting a settled side this term and, in attempting to find the right balance, he feels his chopping and changing has had an adverse affect on The Red Devils´ form.
Ferguson admits the team are at a low ebb but is confident the talent is there to arrest the slide.
" I definitely believe we have got the right players," said Ferguson. " At the minute I´m picking the wrong teams for a variety of reasons.
" Maybe I have been making too many changes.
" We have not had a consistency in selection and that has affected our performance.
" At Birmingham on Saturday I thought Ronaldo would be fresh enough after being away with Portugal. But he was not. The first thing he did when he got on the bus after the game was fall asleep. I made a mistake there."
United trail Arsenal by 11 points in The Premiership and they will look for a confidence boost ahead of Sunday´s showdown with three points in the UEFA Champions League against Sparta Prague on Tuesday evening.
