Mikael Silvestre says pre-season preparations disrupted by injuries and international absentees have hindered United´s start to the new season.
The Reds put league matters on hold this week as they open their European campaign. But Sir Alex Ferguson was clear that United needed to eradicate the defensive mistakes that had led to three Premiership draws on the trot.
When asked about the root cause of the defensive errors, Mikael responded: " I think it´s a mix of a bit of everything; the late start of the players involved in Euro 2004, the injuries, Rio´s ban.
" It´s not easy to prepare yourself for the season when you are missing so many players. We hope to have everyone back as soon as we can.
" I don´t know the solution, I don´t have the answer. If we already had the answer there would be no mistakes. In football, sometimes, if you want to score goals, you play good football. But, goals to the other team normally come from mistakes.
" All we know is that we have made too many mistakes up until now. And we want to put that right."
