Un Winning Eleve 8 Online en Mars au Japon ?

December 22, 2004 - Winning Eleven 8 sold a million copies in its first few days of sales over in Japan this past August, but Konami is not content with that. As it does with every new Winning Eleven installment, Konami plans on releasing an updated version of Winning Eleven 8 prior to the release of Winning Eleven 9. Today, a Japanese retailer has provided first details on what we can expect from the update.

Titled Winning Eleven 8: Live-ware Evolution ( we don´t know what it means either), this update adds a major new feature that fans have been dreaming about for the past few installments: Online play. Players who have the PS2 Network Adapter will be able to play realtime matches against other players throughout Japan and take part in a national ranking. The game will include chat functionality and friend lists as well as a number of Online play options, including team, division and league battles and special cups set up by Konami.
Konami will charge a separate fee for Online play. Pricing hasn´t been announced, but it has been revealed that the game will make use of Sony´s Feega billing service which is used to power Online games such as Sony´s own Minna no Golf Online.

On top of the Online play, the update will feature all the expected improvements, from the latest player, uniform and formation data to tweaks in animation and graphics. New teams and stadiums will be on offer along with more variety in the master league and more training options in the edit mode. For those who plan on importing, the game will offer options for six different languages.

A Japanese release for what´s sure to be a big step forward in the Winning Eleven series is set for March 3, 2005.
