Nintendo is set to file suit against Sony next week, declaring that the Playstation brand, and all of the profits made by Sony from it´s sale, belong to Nintendo. While reading over the original contract between Sony and Nintendo (Sony were to make a CD drive for the Super Nes, entitled the Playstation), a lawyer for Nintendo noticed some key wording which showed that it was Sony´s responsibility to make the drive, and that they broke the contract, not Nintendo, like initially believed.

According to sources, Nintendo is almost assured a victory, gaining all the profit´s made by Sony off the Playstation since its introduction in 1996. Even if Nintendo do not win outright, they are guaranteed the rights to the Playstation name, and Sony will have to immediatley change the name of their console. "

En clair si il y a un procès entre sony et nitendo et si nintendo gagne tous les profits qu´as fait sony avec la play iront à nintendo.
Meme si sony gagne la playstation devra changer de nom.

en gros ca dit que depuis l´histoire ou sony et nintendo developpaient une new console apres la SNes tu sais que Sony s´etait tire avec les plans de la machine qui plus tard devint la PS One. Parce que Nintendo pensait que le cd n´etait pas l´avenir de la console. Eh ben Nintendo fait un proces a Sony a cause de ca et ils ont de fortes chances de gagner et si ils gagnent le proces, ils ramasseraient tous les profits que Sony a eu depuis la PS One jusqu´a mainteannt et ils auraient les droits sur le nom Playstation .

A la fin des consoles 16bits sony et nintendo s´étaient associés pour faire la playstation mais suite à un désacord ils ont rompus leur contrat.
