16.07.2007 - Actualités
French team wins the first official Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops League tournament.
A French-based team has been crowned the winner of the first Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops online competition, with the new league system enjoying a phenomenally successful first month.
Following the launch of dedicated online leagues for its popular Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops title for PSP, European fans of the games have spent the last month taking each other on within officially sanctioned events. Using the game’s ‘Team Death Match’ mode, the ‘Fox Hound Unit’ – comprising three French competitors – swept aside rival teams, before beating ‘Team Fox’, another French team, in a tightly-fought final.
For their efforts, ‘Fox Hound’ were given limited edition Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Premium Packs, from the Japanese Konamistyle range, and which have been sold out for a long time. These coveted sets included a PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system signed by Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima. ‘Team Fox’ were awarded special Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops jackets and a selection of Konami games.
Full details of the competition and profiles of its participants can be found at www.MPOLEAGUE.com, where details of the next competition can also be found. Over 1600 users have registered, forming 280 teams.
