pour les interristes, van der Meyde signe a Everton...
New Everton signing Andy van der Meyde insists he has no health problems.
The Dutch winger, 25, signed for £2million from Inter Milan yesterday despite a groin injury.
And before Holland played Scotland in the build-up to Euro 2004 he FAINTED while waiting to do a TV interview.
Van der Meyde and Dutch officials denied reports that his collapse was the result of a post-match bender a few nights earlier insisting he had wilted under the fierce TV lights.
That was the second time he had keeled over - the same thing happened when he was holding a radio interview six months earlier before an international against Argentina.
He again refuted hints he might have over-indulged after his first Everton medical showed up a liver problem normally associated with too much booze.
The Dutchman said: "It showed up some nasty unexpected results and it appeared my liver was not right.
"I know liver results get worrying when you are guilty of alcohol abuse but I can assure you it certainly wasn´t down to that.
"I had trained too hard for the medical because I´m currently getting over a groin strain.
"The sudden intense activity seems to have been a bit much for my body to cope with and I understand why Everton wanted to take another look.
"But this time everything was fine. Now I can start to get myself fit and I should be ready within two or three weeks."
Van der Meyde, who signed a four-year contract, added: "I have always wanted to play in the Premiership. The quality of football is second to none."
