SPURS FAIL IN £8 MILLION CISSE BID

LIVERPOOl have rejected an £8million offer for France international striker Djibril Cisse.
Shrewd Spurs chairman Daniel Levy contacted Liverpool at the weekend with his bid, which is almost half of the £14m the Anfield club paid to Auxerre for the exciting but erratic forward.
Liverpool have turned down the cash as they want more, but Spurs think they have a chance because the Kop need to raise funds in their bid for new players - including Michael Owen.
Now Spurs will turn their attentions to Chelsea´s Carlton Cole after losing Egyptian striker Mido for a probable four games.

Marseille president Pape Diouf is hopeful a deal to sign Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse can be agreed before Wednesday´s transfer deadline.
Diouf believes Cisse is the man to transform Marseille´s season after a dismal start which has seen them slump to the bottom of the table after failing to win any of their opening five matches.
Cisse´s availability may be decided by factors out of Marseille´s control, however, with Liverpool reluctant to sell unless they bring Michael Owen back to Anfield from Real Madrid.
"It´s complicated with Cisse," Diouf said.
"But this is not over.
"I am waiting to see how things go but as I have always said, it´s a complicated situation."
Marseille coach Jean Fernandez believes the club´s needs would be better served by bringing in a central defender rather than a striker.
"We need a central defender, that´s what I want and I have already told the managers Pape Diouf and Jose Anigo," Fernandez said.
"For a team like ours, which has a lot of ambition, we must be stronger in the aerial game. We must find a strong defender by the deadline.
"We have a few ideas and we will do our best to find the right man."
Serbia & Montenegro international Ivica Dragutinovic, a 29-year-old defender currently at Belgian club Standard Liege, is believed to be among Marseille´s targets.
