Non Boras
By Bobbyd : " Hi,
The reason graphical quality is reduced when running under Vista and Win 7 32 is that those operating systems use more of the memory available to the game even before we've done anything. We end up with about 400MB less memory available than XP running on the same hardware within the 2GB that the game can use, so unfortunately there is no "fix" possible.
Under 64 bit versions of those OSs, it's fine as our process has more memory available to it, but under the 32 bit versions, it means we have to reduce graphical quality to avoid the game hitting the
2GB limit and crashing.
During the beta players were running in XP compatibility mode which made game use the settings for XP and increase the graphical quality, however that's because it makes the game use more memory and therefore makes it much more likely to crash.
This is a issue with Vista / Win 7 and not something we're able to change. As more games begin to use more memory, they'll hit the same problem on 32 bit variants of these OSs.
In order of graphical quality, the operating systems we support are:
- Vista and Win 7 64
- Windows XP
- Vista and Win 7 32
...and that's purely due to the amount of memory availble to the game after start up.
I'm also aware that some people confuse the total amount of memory that the operating system can address (3.5GB under 32 bit variants of Windows) with the amount of memory a single process (executable) can address (2GB).
It's not becuase we don't want to make the game look better on 32bit Vista and Win7, it's that the memory to do so just isn't available. We'll be adding a knowledge base article in the future that I hope will explain the issue clearly.
Thanks, "

En gros il dit que c'est impossible de rendre le jeu aussi joli sous 32 bits que sous 64 bits car sinon il ne démarrerait pas. ( Ou alors j'ai rien compris
