Xbox is set to pass the one million unit mark in the UK within the next few weeks, pushed on by a new high value retail bundle and ever-improving software range.

During private meetings with leading retailers, Microsoft revealed at its X03 event in France that a new £149 bundle featuring Halo, Midtown Madness and two months free Xbox Live access will roll out to the High Street by the beginning of next month.

Microsoft hopes that retail will continue to support existing hardware offerings through to the end of September, but clearly the trade is gearing itself up for a busy second Christmas for Xbox.

“We’re very confident about Xbox this Christmas, with a great games line-up which actually consists of more new releases than PS2,” head of UK Xbox Chris Lewis told MCV.

“Live is on a roll. With that we have the number one online games service without a doubt. I can’t talk about the bundle specifics right now, but what I can promise is that it will offer great value. And whatever the recent rumours, it has not been and will not be our intention to sell on price. We can’t control what others might do, however, and will always remain competitive.”

A new marketing campaign was also unveiled, featuring the slogan ‘It’s good to play together’. This will be central to all TV, print and online activity.

“Xbox Live has always been at the heart of our strategy, but this Christmas people will see that more clearly. Games are driving the digital entertainment lifestyle and we are leading the way.”

Lewis added that Q4 marketing will emphasise key software rather than brand, with huge TV campaigns pushing first party titles such as Project Gotham Racing 2.

Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six 3 will also receive strong support, with boss Yves Guillemot promising that sales will eclipse stablemate Splinter Cell – last year’s biggest release on the format. "

Du tout bon pour ceux qui hésitent encore a ce la prendre je pense. Alors, info ou intox car aucun site français ne semble en parler!
