Crimson Sea

Grade: 8

"The quality of the graphics in this game are of the highest level. The CG also pretty damn cool as well. This title offers the same exhilirating action as the Musou (Dynasty Warriors) series, which means it´s intense and nonstop. There´s also a lot to be rewarded in playing though the game, and on top of that, the complexity of the story is also top notch -- I found myself hooked before even realizing it. It would have been even better if the controls were one the same level...also, those easily affected by 3D-yoi (sickness) might want to avoid this title.

Grade: 9
"The style of action present in earlier titles like the Musou series and Battle Fuushin is alive and well in this game as well. Although the addtion of guns to the existing swords ´n magic combo has made the system a bit more complex, everything has been comfortably accomodated with balance. The fact that your objectives on each stage aren´t restricted to simply annihilatng the enemies matches the general atmosphere of the game greatly. But to those that easily experience 3D-yoi, I´m not sure exactly what to say...

Grade: 7
"Watching over 1000 enemy creatures creep around you is a spectacle. With intense action very similar to the Musou series, it´s exhilirating to cut though wave after wave of enemies. Featuring a lot of gimmiks and elements that draw you into the game, this title rouses your sense of adventure. Also a plus is the sound that comes at you from all sides, which seriously gives you the feeling of being in a war zone of some kind.

Grade: 9
"Playing this game makes you feel like you´re watching a movie, except the various missions presented are left to you to properly complete. Looks like Koei´s finding even better ways to place its characters in situations in which they face off against a overwhelming number of enemies at once...While the CG and play elements come off as somewhat disjointed relative to each other, watching the appealing characters in this game do their thing is satisfying enough, and creates the appropriate mood for the game."

OTOGI:

Grade: 8
"A beautiful fantasy world based on Japanese themes. The main character, flying through the air while swinging his sword, is just too cool for words. With the variety of bizarre-looking demons that come attacking you, the game is not unlike playing a bad dream of some kind -- with a level of intensity that leaves you remembering what you´ve seen long afterwards. Unbelievably novel forms of visual expression in this game. The creativity abound throughout is where the game most deserves its praise."

Grade: 7
"I found myself naturally gravited towards this games unique concept and its production that perfectly matches the story behind it. There´s technique to be learned in the game´s system that creates a direct relation between time, magic and stamina/life. No complaints about the main character himself, who moves incredibly smooth. However, with a large number of screens with dark lighting, it´s often a chore to identify the enemy. Despite the ability to move the camera, this doesn´t prove to be that useful in mid-battle."

Grade: 9
"Whether it be the graphics, sound or game environment, this game leaves you in awe. From the moment you start playing you feel completely immersed, as if you going to be pulled into the alternate dimension portrayed in the game. The sense of exhiliration provided by this title as you destroy building after building and cut through your enemies is on a different level. With limited time to accomplish what you have to do in the game, deciding how you do it becomes an important strategic element. Very easy to get hooked."

Grade: 7
"The sense of hovering in the air as you fight is something new offered by this title. The large number of objects throughout that can be destroyed when cut plays a significant part in the feeling of exhiliration that this game provides. Although it´s easy to get discouraged in those stages where you can die with just one hit, the actual number of stages is numerous and makes the game feel complete. While playing through the intense sequences in the game is fun, times when there seems to be nothing going on will rear themselves occasionally
