How do I get additional language files?
[This version of Windows is still in development, so some Help information might be inaccurate or missing.]
Language files provide you with the ability to change the display language on your computer so that you can view wizards, dialog boxes, menus, and other items in Windows in a different language.
There are two types of language files:
Language interface packs (LIPs). LIPs provide a translated version of about 80 percent of the user interface, with the most widely used areas being translated. If you don´t require a fully translated version of Windows, LIPs are a good option. If you install a LIP, all users of the computer must use that language as their display language. LIPs do not allow users of the computer to switch languages. You can install more than one LIP, but you can only use one at a time on the computer. LIPs are freely available for download on the Microsoft website and can be installed and used on any edition of Windows Vista.
Multilingual user interface (MUI) packs. MUI packs provide a translated version of the entire user interface. If you need a fully translated version of Windows, you should install a MUI pack. MUI packs allow each user of the computer to choose their own display language. MUI packs can only be installed and used on Windows Vista Ultimate and Windows Vista Enterprise. MUI packs can be found on your Windows DVD or downloaded from the Microsoft website.
