Suite aux nombreuses manifestations suivant le meurtre de George Floyd aux États-Unis, l'industrie vidéoludique s'est rapidement mobilisée afin de soutenir le peuple américain dans leur combat contre le racisme. Après l'annulation de nombreux événements prévus cette semaine comme la présentation d'images inédites de Madden NFL 21, des premiers jeux de la PlayStation 5 qui devait avoir lieu ce jeudi 4 juin à 22 heures, ou encore du jeu Cyberpunk 2077, c'est au tour de Square Enix de prendre part à ce combat.

Square Enix soutient et verse 250000 $ au mouvement Black Lives Matter

En effet, sur Twitter, les pages officielles de Square Enix, de Square Enix France ou encore de Square Enix Montréal nous annonce que le studio derrière le récent Final Fantasy VII Remake décide de soutenir le mouvement Black Lives Matter. Pour se faire, l'entreprise japonaise décide de verser la somme de 250000 dollars à Black Lives Matter et à d'autres organisations caritatives comme Showing Up For Racial Justice ou encore Antiracism Center. De leur côté, les nombreux employés du studio se sont également unis afin de réunir la même somme. Tout comme le don de Square Enix, cet argent sera également distribué à de nombreuses associations caritatives luttant contre le racisme.

Toutes les équipes de Square Enix à travers le monde, des bureaux aux studios, se tiennent aux côtés de la communauté noire dans la lutte contre le racisme, les préjugés et la haine. Nous nous engageons à verser 250000 $ ainsi que la somme égale aux dons faits par nos employés afin de soutenir Black Lives Matter et d'autres organisations caritatives, pour lutter contre l'injustice raciale et avoir un impact positif sur le monde.

De leur côté, Microsoft et Sony s'unissent et décident de prendre la parole afin de partager à leur tour, sur Twitter, leur soutien à la communauté noire.

Nous dénonçons le racisme systémique et la violence contre la communauté noire. Nous continuerons à travailler vers un avenir marqué par l'empathie et l'inclusion et nous nous tiendrons aux côtés de nos créateurs, joueurs, employés, familles et amis noirs.
